Japan POV
I entered the Base as quietly as possible. I had no idea how long I was gone, but seeing as I had left suddenly I was going to have some questions. I'm not worried about the other's questions, I can make up something to say if they start pressing. However, avoiding China is going to be interesting.
I am going to have to up my game if I am going to get around his 'I know everything aru, so just tell me before someone else does' look. I swear it is impossible to hide something from him. Also, why is it older siblings can always tell if you are hiding something?! It's infuriating!
I crept one of the empty places on the floor, hoping everyone was still asleep.
Just as I thought I had succeeded in sneaking in, I heard an angry voice behind me. "Where have you been, aru?"
Damn it!
I slowly turned around to come face to face with a very peeved China. His arms were crossed over his chest as he glared angrily at me. I masked my surprise at his sudden appearance under my usual poker face. It was now or never if I wanted to convince him I had nothing to hide, but I needed to say something fast before he started to assume things.
"I was looking for Romano-san and Germany-san to convince them to come back to the base where it was safer. I, unfortunately, did not find them." I wasn't technically lying, as I did look for them. The other two thirds of that, well, that was a lie. Obviously.
China just stared at me, eyebrows furrowed. "So you spent three hours searching for them but did not find them? Really. I know how close you are with Germany, aru. You would not have comeback without him."
Well, this isn't good.
"I needed to check here to see if he returned when I was out. I did not want to accidentally pass him unknowingly." I rationalized quickly, frowning. "I do not see him here, which is worry some." I hoped that China would buy my reasoning of returning without my allie.
He placed his hand weary over his eyes. "Aiya, you are too loyal for your own good." He looked back at me. "Get some sleep, aru. You can't search for him if you are exhausted." I watched as the Chinese man walked back over to where he had set up for his sleeping spot. He was right, I was exhausted. I laid down in the place that I was heading to originally before China stopped me.
I closed my eyes. I had just lied to China and had gotten away with it; That alone is a miracle in itself. Now all I have to do is lie to everyone else and get Prussia outside the Base alone, all while pretending to search for Germany. Totally not hard at all.
With that, sleep claimed me.

I was awoken by the sound of birdsong. How odd. I could have sworn that last night I went to sleep in a crowded bedroom. I slowly opened my eyes and saw that I was indeed still in the Base. Then where the hell was the birdsong coming from? There is no windows near were I was for God's sake!
I groaned as I heard someone fumble with their phone to shut off their alarm. "Shut it off," I mumbled, "before I shut it off for you." I drifted back to sleep.

"Japan! Wake up!" Someone shook my shoulder frantically. I blearly opened my eyes; China hovered over me with a concerned look on his face.
"What happened?" I whispered. My throat hurt. Why did my throat hurt? China knelt next to me, relief replaced the concern.
"You had a rough night." China said simply as he brushed my banges out of my eyes. "Do you want to talk about it, aru?"
I shook my head no. "I don't remember." I whispered to China.
He nodded, and got up. "I will get you some water aru."
I watched as he weaved around the nations sitting on the floor. They were huddled together quietly chatting amongst themselves.
Prussia sat alone. Excellent.
