Y/N POV
I opened the door to the house and found myself met with what could only be described as an early settlement.
There was very little shops and a little amount of houses to go with it. Unlike Cairo the nightlife was practically non-existent besides those sitting out on their porches.
Dio nost likely chose this as he saw this as the least dangerous place for me to live. The small amount of people and modernization along with more traditional values seemed quiet enough. He also chose this for him if he was to make it out.
Something tells me he finally was ready to live simply. All the pompous ways behind. Simply just enjoying our company until the end of time.
The harsh desert wind whipped around my face causing me to rewrap my veil. This task of mine seemed almost impossible.
I saw lights on the horizon, it was unmistakably a town, but was it Cairo? Doesn't matter, if I made it to a
town I was atleast a bit closer. But that town was easily 5 miles away. On foot would be horrible.
As I walked through the small town I looked for anything that could help me. It appears there wasn't any taxis in a small living such as this one. In fact I barely saw any cars. Dio certainly made this a bit difficult for me.
I saw a few camels out but I doubt it would take me quickly over to the city on the horizon. After all it may be a bit faster than walking.
As I walked through the little town, I wrapped up my veil even tighter as the cold desert wind nipped at my face ultimately cooling my blood. I was on the verge of crying just so I could feel some heat.
My walking did not go in vain as in some deus ex machina style there was a man with a horse.
Perhaps there was ignorance in me but the only time I correlated with horses in Egypt was the B.C era. That didn't matter now, all that mattered was buying that horse.
"Excuse me, yes hello, is there any way you'd be willing to trade or sell me that horse?", I asked practically running up to the man.
There was a pause as if he was still processing all I had said. He also could not have heard me clearly as I began from a distance away.
"What could be more valuable than this horse?", he asked crossing his arms.
"I have fine cloths and money if that will suffice.", I responded as I took cloths I used for veils out of my bag.
"I believe a horse is worth more than simply cloths and coins.", his answer was a bit irritating if I am being honest. But he must've sensed my desperation and mentally set a high price already.
I thought about what else I could possibly trade for a horse. Then it hit me.
The necklace around my neck must have been enough to trade. It was gold and detailed with crystsls.
For a second I felt guilty as it was a gift from Dio but it was for the greater good.
I offered the necklace and the man simply nodded. As I placed it in his hand, he placed the reigns in mine.
Before finally leaving I purchased a few things for the horse as well as myself to keep us replenished. So there I was on the edge of the town just looking towards the light before taking off.
The wind practically drank any tears that dared break the barrier of my eyes. Eventually the sadness was replaced by determination alone and the horse picked up pace. In all honesty I felt a tab bit bad that it had to run carrying me but I had enough treats for its reward.
