"Come on babe, it's just one night out of the year!", I pouted at Dio. My hands still in streamers.
"It's not even a real holiday. Plus we stay up this late every night. What is the big deal of this one?", His answer was of course, similar to his demeanour of being unbothered.
"It's special because it celebrates the beginning of new things! A fresh start! It's even better when celebrated with the people you love.", I smiled at him and continued with the streamers in our bedroom. I wasn't going all out but enough to feel like a snall celebration.
Dio gave a small smile in return to my happiness and let me be.
"You know, it's good luck to kiss at the first stroke of midnight. ", I gave a small wink. My wink was returned with a smirk.
A quick peck was placed on my lips and a hand on my waist pulled me closer.
"All kisses from you are good luck.", Dio whispered into my ear. "I'll let you finish decorating. I'll be back by 11:30."
With that he was gone and I could decorate the room.
I changed the bedding to satin golden sheets and pillow cases with Delphinium littered all on top. I also placed a vase of them next to his side of the bed.
I changed into a pink nightslip to get more comfortable. Next was lighting a few candles of his favorite scents.
"Maybe this is a bit over the top?", I thought outloud as I looked at the decorated room.
All the colours fit well with each other giving the illusion of a a warm spring night. However I was a little afraid Dio would be overwhelmed. But he is a but over dramatic at moments.
Someone entering the room took me out of my thoughts.
"How beautiful this all looks.", Dio's sweet voiced filled the room. He walked over to hand me a glass of wine.
"I hope this sets a good tone for the new year. I know I'm excited especially because I get to enter it with you. ", I planted a small kiss on his cheek. "Have any new year's resolutions?"
"No. I'm already perfect so really there's nothing to work on. ", he made a smug look then winked at me.
I scoffed and shook my head at his answer. Although conceited it made me laugh a little. It was such a Dio answer.
"Let's just stay like this forever.", I placed my head on his shoulder just resting. It was true though. I could stay just sitting with Dio and enjoying his company forever. We didn't need words to feel comfort.
"I love you y/n.", with the last thing said we just sat and drank our wine. I enjoyed him being against me even if there was no warmth. Just like that we rang in the new year.
