Despite a death he much rather wanted to avoid, with the work of Pucci, Dio was able to reach the god status he wanted.
In heaven he was able to see the many paths of fate laid out in front of him. So many other takes on the loves of those he knew and even himself.
There were paths in which he never met the Joestars, never put on the stone mask, and one in which he put the stone mask on Jonathan instead as what was orginally intended.
There were paths of all the different possible outcomes of Egypt. One in which he won, died in the mansion, was never found, and one in which he never met Y/N.
On most days Dio would ponder choosing a different pathway than the one which achieved him his god status.
Despite seeing the different outcomes of the same actions or different actions, the true ending was always hidden. To know how that reality would end was impossible unless you were to actually experience it. Because of that, Dio spend most days watching all of his lover's paths.
He saw both him and Y/N meeting in Victorian England, y/n as part of the Joestar group in Egypt, he even saw Y/N be the one to put on the stone mask.
Some days Dio felt lonely enough in which he was tempted to walk down a path and give up his godly status as to be with Y/N once again.
But who's to say that the two will fall in love again? That giving up godly status for love is worth it?
But to Dio, those things seemed worth it at moments.
