You know, I really don't understand why teenage girls are so into the whole supernatural thing. I simply can't comprehend why they would want to get themselves involved with all the shit that comes with it. Sure, there's hot guys and all, but falling in love with a thousand year old vampire that everyone wants to kill isn't going to be all sunshine and rainbows. I knew that, though I haven't been through that exact situation. But then again, I guess I shouldn't judge them. After all, that was basically me a couple of months ago.

Okay, maybe I should get to my point already. What I meant to say was that all this supernatural shit, it's not at all like a fairytale. If you're unlucky enough to get involved, you can't just stand on the side, playing damsel in distress while everyone else sacrifices themselves for you. That will end in one way; you're going to die. I'm sorry, but it's the cold, hard truth. If you want to live a happy life, you'd better be ready to fight for it. I learned that the hard way.

My life before about a year ago was completely normal. I was just a normal teenage girl, with normal teenage girl problems. I had a spastic twin brother, and a father who absolutely adored me (nothing's changed there). I went to Beacon Hills High School, and worked at the animal clinic. And, like most teenage girls living in a small town, I wanted nothing more than to one day leave the place I had called my home.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love Beacon Hills! Everything I had ever known was here! My family, my friends, my job. All of my memories took place here. But nothing ever happened there. It was so mundane, so damn boring. And with an IQ almost as high as Lydia Martin's (key word is almost), I would probably be able to get into any college that I wanted, and finally get out of there. Maybe I'd go to New York. Who really knows? But apparently, life had different ideas.

It was the beginning of my Sophomore year that things began to get odd. It started on the last night of Summer break, and half of a dead body being found in the preserve. Given that our dad was the Sheriff, and how nosy my brother and I were, Stiles and I were the first to hear about it. Unfortunately, my beloved twin and I had different ideas about what to do once our father left. So while I stayed home like the good little angel I was, my idiot twin dragged his best friend into the woods with him, searching for an unknown half of a body.

Everything was fine and dandy for the next few days. Stiles was his usual dorky self, and my life seemed to stay as mundane as usual. It wasn't until the night of Lydia Martin's party that things began to change. Of course, I was at the crowded party, considering that Lydia and I were actually pretty close. But Stiles? As much as he loved Lydia, and though he was my twin brother, he'd never accepted my invitations to come. Seeing him there made me suspicious.

"Stiles?" I questioned, my eyebrows raised in surprise as my brother jumped a mile into the air. Swiftly, he turned, his brown eyes wide and filled with fear.

"J-Jessie!" he stuttered, his eyes darting around the crowd that surrounded us. "Don't scare me like that! You nearly gave me a heart attack!"

"Well, sorry." An amused smile twitched at the edges of my lips. "Did you finally decide to accept my inviations? Y'know, after two years."

"What? No! I, uh, I'm just...have you seen Scott?"

"McCall?" I took a second to think, before nodding in response. "Yeah, I did. He's here with Allison, right?"

"Yes! He was! This is great, you really have no idea how great this is! Where is he?" His words came out in a jumble. It took a second - or six -, but I finally managed to make out what he had said. I shrugged lightly.
