"I'm a witch

"I'm a witch."

I was a witch. As much as I didn't want to believe it, it was the truth.

It felt right. For once in my life something made sense. It was like two sides of a lost story had been put back together. The magic filling the void in me once I accepted it. The aches of loss were still present- numb instead. The magic weaving its way around my heart encasing it in a blanket of spirit.

"Now you see what I mean. You can feel it," Annie said. I nodded, feeling it course through me; the power pulling me in every direction.

"How do I control it? Can you teach me? I really don't want to look like a flashing light for the rest of my life," I asked Annie.

"You'd look good like that, Charlie," Harvey said, eyeing me up and down. "I think you should keep the lights, I'll always know when you're sneaking up on me then."

I rolled my eyes- boys. Harvey never catches me when I sneak up on him. It's the only thing I can hold above him, scaring him. But then again, he gets me back far too often to compare.

"You- be quiet." I smirked. "Annie how do I get rid of the light?"

"Well, before we do that I need to give you a little history lesson- well more history than what I've told you already, as your case is a little different to what the rest of us would have been through when we received our powers." She pointed to the black swirls mixed in with the white.

Oh

My brows drew together as I tilted my head to the side. "Did you not have the black swirls? Why do I have them then?" I thought I was the same as Annie.

"No Lottie, remember what I said- fire blazed through me. It looked like my whole body had been on fire, the flames burning but not harming me. Yours is different; you have light, not an element. For example, if you had held the water element, it would cover you in a drenching sweat- showing you what it was like to live without it.

"Your light is showing you what you the relationship between the light and darkness; the good and the bad. The four elements do not represent this. Leaving you with one answer for your light and powers-"

I threw my hands up in the air. "What! What is it?"

How could I be anymore different? I was a witch for heaven's sake- wasn't that a large enough differentiation for me? The suspense Annie was holding was driving me crazy; I just wanted to know. How bad could it be?

With one eyebrow raised, Annie used her arms to lower her frame into a chair. "Patience. Lottie, I can either give it to you full out- no explanation beforehand and watch you freakout again, or I can help you understand it before I tell you how you relate to the issue. I know which one I would prefer, but I'll let you decide."

"Fine hit me with it- No explain it to me first." I'm sure either way would not end well. I mean how much more could she say? I was already a witch, wasn't that enough of a surprise for one day?
