Someone kill me for my lack of creativity.

This idea was in my drafts since who-knows-when. I got this idea when we were doing the Guess The Character thingy.

I never did get around to publish it. Basically, I'll randomly search up writing prompts on Google, and I'll write a short-story on the first prompt that appears.

Then, I'll tag six peeps ( that's the number the random number generator gave), and they'll need to do the same. It doesn't have to be on the prompt I wrote for.

Let's start!

Wow. Thank you Google, very cool.

I knew something was different the moment I woke up. For starters, I woke up on the left side of my bed. I never did that before. Secondly, when I looked at the wall-clock, it was three minutes past ten.

I'm actually up late, for once?

It was a miracle mom didn't wake me up at around eight, like she always did. Nevertheless, I got up, did my morning routine, and trudged downstairs for breakfast.

"Might as well be productive." I spoke to myself.

I went to the kitchen and was about to open the fridge, when I saw the little pink post-it note on it.

"Hey sweetie. Mom is going out for some errands. Be back soon."

Before I could comprehend anything, my head started hurting and I could see red lines flash before my eyes. I could clearly see the word L-I-E-S flash in clear red letters.

What? Why would Mom lie? And most importantly, how'd I guess it?

To test it out, I opened the backyard door and went outside. I stood in front of our giant mango tree, and said outloud.

"It is a flower."

Sure enough, the headaches and red light flashed again. The word L-I-E-S appeared too.

What the-? I'm officially a lie detector!

I almost squealed in happiness. Controlling myself, I went inside. I was about to call my best friend when I heard the bell ringing.

"Coming!"

I opened the door to come face to face with Avery, my best friend. She smiled at me and came inside. Weird, from the moment I saw her, my head started hurting.

"You wouldn't believe what happened Av-" there it was again. The headache.

I clutched my head and carefully sat down beside her. Turns out she just came to chill since apparently, the A.C. in her house wasn't working.

Throughout the whole morning my head kept hurting. I could swear I saw the red letters flash by again. I'd only known Avery for a little over a month. She was my first friend back when we moved to this neighborhood. We immediately became best friends afterwards.

Something wasn't right today. The moment she excused herself to go the bathroom, I quickly went through her phone. What information I got was enough to explain these headaches.

The fact that I was suddenly a walking-talking-lie-detector was strange enough. But now it all makes sense. I looked up when I heard her footsteps. Without giving her a chance to speak, I spoke up myself.

"Amy Boston. Secret researcher at the Boston University. Chemistry major. You created a special potion that apparently, gives humans the ability to detect lies— just like a lie detector. When did you inject that potion in me? Probably two weeks ago, when you came over for a sleepover. Am I right?"

I looked at her pale face and continued.

"You probably didn't think it'd actually work. You have the dedication. I'll give you that. Nice try. But now that I finally know who you are..."

I looked up. My eyes were burning red from fury.
