THE DRIVE to the farmhouse was longer than expected. Artemis constantly checking the rear view mirror, hoping Minho didn't follow him. If only he knew. Artemis shook away that thought from his mind, diverting his attention back to the road. He hoped Minho made it out alive after facing this titan named Thanos. He knew he should've at least helped the others but he wanted to know if Clint was safe. Everything that has happened in his life, he had to thank Clint for bringing him back from the darkness.
The farmhouse of the Barton's comes to view, Artemis speeding up the car as he grows closer to his destination. Driving up the pathway towards the house, Artemis parks the car before jumping out. His boots scrap against the dirt underneath him, as he surveys his environment.
"Clint!" Artemis calls out. No response. He grew worried at the silence.
"Clint! Where are you!" Artemis calls out again. He groans, heading inside the farmhouse, only to find it empty. His eyes land on the refrigerator, seeing the pictures of Clint and his family. Artemis considered them a second family, seeing as he never really knew his parents.
"Please be alive." Artemis sighed. He heads back outside, making his way to the barn. Gripping the handle of the door, he slides the barn door open, dusting his hands before entering. Dried hay grass and old tractors fill the barn. Sweat trails his face as the barn was extremely hot. He pulls off his jacket, tying it around his wait before venturing further into the barn.
"Clint! Are you here!" Artemis calls out again. Alas, no answer once again. He cannot be dead, Artemis did not want to believe it.
"Artemis..." he hears a voice call his name. He follows the direction of the voice before finding Clint lying in a drunken state on the ground. Hair disheveled and a few days of stubble covering his face.
"Clint. Come on." Artemis lifted him up on his feet, Clint stumbling from side to side. Artemis helps him to sit on a bundle of hay, before gently slapping his face to wake him up from his disoriented state.
"They're gone. They're all gone." he gurgles.
"Your family..." Artemis reiterates, making sure it was them Clint was talking about.
"Yes. Why. Why did this happen?"
"A being named Thanos obtained all of the infinity stones and halved the popular of every species in the universe. The snap was the cause of people being dusted. He believed not everyone deserves to live in the world and overpopulate the planet."
