I hadn't gone to school that day because I hadn't been feeling well (and I just didn't want to), but I convinced my mother to let me go to choir practice that night. I was a few minutes late, and when I walked into the room they had already started.

Roger was the first one to notice me, and when he did he smiled and said,

"Well look who decided to show up?"

All of the boys looked in my direction, and the sight of me caused them to break into cheering, which was so loud that it caused a sharp pain in my head. I covered my ears, and I heard Roger yell at the top of his lungs for everyone to be quiet.

Instantly the noise stopped. I uncovered my ears and looked at Roger.

"Thanks," I said.

"Glad to see you back here," he said. "You've been gone a long time. This place was nothing without you."

I smiled.

"I'm sure," I said.

"We should get started soon, if you're up for it," Roger said.

"Of course I am," I said. "I want to start singing again."

Although that practice wasn't any more exciting than the first two that I had gone to, I was still extremely happy to be there.

At the end of practice, Roger asked me if we could have another get together that weekend.

"I thought you didn't like get-togethers," I said.

"I usually don't," Roger replied, "But the last one we had was actually really fun. Until...you know."

"Where will we do it?" I asked. "My mum's not going to let you come back to our house after what you did to me."

"We can go to my place," Roger suggested. "My parents wouldn't mind, obviously."

"That sounds alright," I replied.

We proposed our idea to the rest of the choir and it was received by a standing ovation.

"They really like this idea," Roger said.

"No kidding," I replied.

"Don't worry," Roger said. "This time I won't accidentally try to kill you."

We both laughed,  and seeing him enjoying himself assured me that I did like him, and that we were, despite any doubts I might have, best friends.
