(Song of the chapter: Out Of My League- Fitz and The Tantrums)
I wake up to the sound of my alarm. Ugh. Fumbling around on my nightstand I silence my phone alarm and rub my eyes, squinting at the sun spilling in from behind my pink curtains, illuminating my bedroom and warming my face and arms. Stretching, I drag myself out of bed and proceed with my daily routine; brushing my teeth, washing my face and choosing out an outfit. I scan through my closet and settle on a white long sleeve top and a yellow pinafore dress that hugs my torso and flares out around my hips. Pulling my blonde hair up into a half pony I start my makeup; foundation, blusher, bronzer, a dash of bronzer, mascara and my signature pink lip gloss. I guess a lot of people would describe me as a girly-girl, my friends often called me barbie and with my pink wardrobe and long blonde hair I couldn't really argue.
With a final look in the mirror I decided that I looked good enough and headed downstairs to grab some breakfast. As usual Josh, my brother, was already sat at the kitchen counter stuffing his mouth with God knows what. Josh was the year above me and miles more popular, he was the typical jock, constantly partying, talking to girls or playing football. In that respect we couldn't be more different. While he was Prom King, I was Class President. I was reserved and shy and I found it much easier to bury my head in a book than go out partying, not to say I didn't party (as I did quite a lot), but Josh was just more comfortable and confident than I was, and it didn't help that the majority of my friends would crush on him whenever they came over. However, despite our differences we were best friends. "What's up dickhead?" I tease as I enter the kitchen and when moving closer to his 'breakfast' I scrunch my nose up in disgust. "Don't look at my food like that Trix! It's actually delicious." Josh smiles up at me. "I would honestly rather die than eat that" I reply to which Josh laughs back, "It's just egg, bacon, mushrooms, sausages and potato waffles... blended all together" I mime out gagging and Josh punches me on the arm. I get my cereal and coffee and sit next to him, mindlessly scrolling through Instagram and replying to snapchats.
"Oh Trixie", Josh turns to look at me, "I hope it's ok with you but I'm going to be having a party tonight, mum and dad said it's chill, so I hope you won't mind a bit of noise," shaking my head I reply "no it's fine, I'll just put in some headphones and study." I had a science test coming soon anyway and I could do with putting my head down for a few hours and working, I would just have to make sure I locked my room to avoid any hook-ups stumbling into my bedroom like they had, to my mortification, before. "Actually maybe you should come Trixie, I've invited Violet and Adore anyway so you'd have people to hang out with. Besides, I'm only one year above, you'd get on fine with the people in my year." I think about it for a second and decide that maybe it would be nice to party. I nod my head and Josh smiles back, but not before saying that I'll have to help him tidy up as payback. I laugh and walk out of the kitchen, picking up my school bag and putting on my shoes. As I step out of the door, I put my headphones on and start my music before beginning the walk to school.
