(Song of the chapter: Wait for Me-Motopony)
In my room I could hear the dull thud of music from downstairs as I put the finishing touches together for my outfit. I had gone for a strappy purple top that dipped down slightly at the front leaving little to the imagination and a pink frilly skirt paired with some white chunky trainers. My hair was teased, my lips were stained pink and covered in my classic gloss. I turned around in the mirror and decided I was ready. It was then that I got a text from Adore saying her and Violet had arrived. I hurried downstairs pushing past the people huddled on the stairs and the groups in the hallways. Opening the door I saw Adore stumble towards me smiling with outstretched arms, I gave her a warm hug, laughing when I smelt the liquor on her breath. Violet appeared behind Adore and rolled her eyes at me, "Adore's fucked already". "I can tell" I said, and the drunk Adore laughed as she pulled away from the hug. Adore looked at the two of us and whispered "you two need to get on my level! We need to get you guys some drinks!" I shrugged at Violet and she nodded back. Walking inside we made our way to the kitchen and I fixed me and Violet a vodka coke that was pretty generous on the vodka front. By now the house was swarming with drunk, dancing teens and the pulsing music only helped with my intoxication.
About two drinks and two shots in Violet, Adore and I were swaying on the dance floor giggling and joking when mid-turn I saw a familiar flash of blonde hair over my shoulder. I turned and saw that it was Katya. She was dressed in a purple bodycon dress that gripped her agile, slender frame and highlighted her curves. Her makeup was heavier than earlier today, and her lipstick was now a darker shade of red. She was surrounded by guys who were all practically drooling over her, unsurprisingly. Looking up, she caught my eyes for a millisecond, but I quickly turned around, feeling my cheeks flush and immediately more self-conscious of my dancing, which was now contained and embarrassed. A minute or so later I turned around again but she was gone- she was probably off with some guy. I felt a jealous ache imagining her with someone else, but I quickly pushed it away, blaming the odd feeling on my drunkenness.
I soon lost Adore and Violet followed. They were great fun to go out with for the first half hour but almost always ended up getting themselves into trouble and getting lost. I decided to ignore it and I swayed in the crowd of partygoers enjoying the music and the drink that was coursing through my intoxicated body. As I felt my body overheating, I decided to leave the living room and make my way out onto the patio. I walked out onto the wooden deck using the wooden bannisters to stabilise myself. Shutting my eyes I took a few deep breaths in and out to regulate my heartbeat. "Are you okay", I started and jumped around to see Katya leaning against the wall, a lit cigarette dangling in between her lips. "Oh my God, you scared me", I replied breathlessly, clutching my chest. "Sorry." Katya laughs. "Don't worry," I reply, "I'm fine, it was just a bit overcrowded in there, needed some fresh air." She looks at me and nods, as if she's agreeing with me. "I get you. I always get bored about half-way through, so I like taking little breaks too." She paused looking up at the sky, then back to me. "Do you want a cigarette?" I paused, contemplating, I knew I shouldn't, but the alcohol had dulled my inhibitions. "Um" I hesitated, "Sure, I mean, I've never... I've never smoked before". Katya smiled, "don't worry, I'll teach you". She signalled to me to come over to her and I walked over, perching on the balcony so I was directly across from her, only a foot or so between us. She reached into her purse pulling out a pack of Camels. She pulled one out and gestured to me to part my lips, I complied, and she placed the cigarette into my mouth. She instructed me to breath in whilst she held her lit cigarette against mine and I did, immediately erupting into a fit of coughing, which made Katya giggle. Once she stopped laughing she showed me how to inhale it and I followed suit until eventually I had managed to get the knack of it. "It looks better when you do it," I admitted and she smiled, her cheeks flushing. "So how come I never see you?" She questioned. "Oh, I'm in the year below you, so I guess we don't cross paths much." She nodded down at her feet, before looking back up at me with her piercing blue eyes, "Shame we're not in any classes together" she said, and I looked down at my hands feeling my face warm. She sighed and looked up, "it's nice out here", I hummed in agreement and looked at her staring upwards. The moon lit her eyes and the shadows hollowed out her cheekbones and the sides of her nose. The smoke from her cigarette spiralled around her, enclosing her in a dark, foggy cocoon. Katya looked down at me, her mouth parting as if she was about to say something.
The peaceful silence was broken by the door creaking open and I turned around seeing Josh coming out onto the balcony. "Heyyyy", he slurred and ran up to me trapping me in a big large hug. He spotted the cigarette in my hand which I promptly dropped and stomped on, "I didn't know you smoked," Josh raised an eyebrow, "I'm just trying it Joshie, don't worry" I laughed. Katya shuffled against the wall, the noise causing Josh to turn around, his eyes lighting up when he saw Katya, "ayy, Katya! I see you met my little sis! Isn't she just the best!" Katya smiled over at me, "she's pretty cool". I giggled, turning my head. "Anyway" Katya stood upright and touched both mine and Josh's shoulders, my skin burned from the touch and my stomach droppped. "I better be going" she stated, and just like that she had been absorbed back into the mass of the party. My shoulder buzzed, yearning for Katya's electric touch.
My phone dinged from my pocket, I got it out and looked down, seeing a new snapchat notification: 'katyazamo added you as a friend'.
