Wilfred's POV

I sigh as I send my tenth text message to Kate. Or Sasha. Or...somebody. It was never explained to me. I haven't received a single response. At this rate, I'm never going to get to speak to her again...

I stand from my chair and begin pacing. How do I fix this? Sasha was right. I was out of line. I was shocked, but that didn't excuse calling her a liar. There must have been something I could do. Without another thought, I grabbed a jacket and called for Claude to bring the car.

It was a short ride to Kate's house, but nothing could have prepared me for what I found there. It had been a week since I stormed out. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. An older butler answered, his lips frowning as if his face was stuck.

"May I help you?" He spoke in a long and drawn out way.

"Is Lady Katelyn home? It is imperative I speak with her."

He eyes widened for a moment before he answered, "Lady Katelyn left two days ago, sir. In fact, Lord and Lady Morgan left with her."

I froze. If she wasn't at home...where the hell did she go?

Sasha's POV

The prince will not stop texting me. He say he must apologize to Kate, but I no answer him. I have other things to be worried about. Kate want surgery now, so we go to Oriens to see doctor. He young and handsome. Kate seem to relax with him. This good.

"You're a good candidate for the surgery, Miss Morgan," he say looking at her chart.

"So, this will work?" Beatrice asks.

"I am hopeful, but I can't make any guarantees." He turns to look at Kate who is sitting quietly. "There is an open spot for tomorrow if you would like."

Frederick nods. "Yes, the sooner the better."

"Of course," the doctor nods, but continues looking at Kate who is biting her lip.

"One more thing, doctor," Kate says softly.

"Yes?"

"How long is the recovery time?" She asks. He nods and begins to explain how she will recover.

I think this surgery be good. Kate already seem calmer. I hope she move on from prince. This be good change I hope.

Kate's POV

It's agony. I've been waiting here for what seems like hours. It seems as though this isn't really happening; like I'll wake up soon and still be in Philip. I can't believe how quickly I went from making a decision to making it happen. My life is beginning to change, and today is the first day of the rest of my life.

The door opens as the doctor enters. He explains the procedure in detail, and we schedule the surgery for the next day.

"One more thing, doctor," I say.

"Yes?"

"How long is the recovery time?" I need to know how long this will take to recover from.

"We will check your eyes after a week. From there, it could take a few weeks for your eyes to be fully adjusted to seeing."

"Thank you," I nod. That was better than I thought it would be. If it will only take a few weeks of recovery, then I could be ready to move on with my life sooner than I thought. What will I do? Who will I be? Surely not the naïve child I was before the accident. Nor will I be the frightened blind girl I was. Nor shall I be the heartbroken woman I am now. Shall I be an advocate? Shall I be a teacher? Or maybe I could start a charity? The possibilities were endless. After the surgery, I will no longer be confined to the role that had been set out for me. I will be able to chart my own course and see the world through my own eyes. The world was beginning to look a little brighter already. Now, I just had to live through the surgery.
