Callie: "So when can we start attending? Tomorrow perhaps?"
The coffee brown skinned girl was in the front office of the school that was nearby the house she and her friends now lived in. It was convenient that an entire high school was two blocks from the house. Surprises were just everywhere, huh?
CALLIE, being the smartest of the three girls when it came to hiding, had second thoughts of attending a high school full of childish, hormonal teenagers, but that was all she could think of to do to cover their whole "runaway image."
It was just to protect her and her friends for the time being.
The thirty-two-year-old, African American woman (CALLIE discovered her age from asking) sat at her desk responsibly across from CALLIE, eyeglasses placed low on the bridge of her nose as she looked stiffly at the eighteen-year-old.
Even though this principal, MRS. DANIELS, was thirty-two, she had looked fifty.
Mrs. Daniels: "How old are you girls exactly?"
She was writing something down on a sheet of paper with her frail, brown hand.
CALLIE looked down at her hands in her lap.
Callie: "Well, I'm eighteen; the second oldest is seventeen, and the youngest is sixteen."
She gave a polite, yet fake smile.
MRS. DANIELS continued to write stuff down, adjusting her glasses.
Mrs. Daniels: "Well, if you're attending this school, you'll all be in separate grade levels."
Callie: "That's fine with me. As long as we have the same lunch period I'm okay with the separation."
Mrs. Daniels: (nods) "What are you and your uh...'friends'' names?"
Callie: "Well um, my name is Callie, the seventeen-year-old is Jacqueline, and the sixteen-year-old is Chresandra."
The principal had to do a double-take at the last one's name.
Mrs. Daniels: "Middle and last names?"
CALLIE fumbled at that question. Should she tell her, a complete stranger, their full government names? Would she be able to trust the grown woman with this personal information? What if they find their location and find out they were attending this school?
CALLIE shuddered at the terrifying thought of them finding where she and her friends were. She gulped.
Callie: "Um..." (nervously pulls at her curls) "Th-that's, um...classified information."
She looked at the principal sheepishly, awaiting a response.
MRS. DANIELS just looked at her with lazy eyes.
An uncomfortable few seconds of silence went by.
The girl with loose curls bit her lip. Of course she wouldn't believe that...
Mrs. Daniels: (blinks, scrunching her nose and eyebrows up) "Classified information? What kind of hokey-doke is that? Do you think I was born yesterday or something, child?"
...Dang it.

This is where I stopped writing. Again, keep in my mind that this story was started in 2014.
