The day he left.
~•°•~
Three years later.
“Ignacios Santillano, for the love of the Moon, give me my dagger back!” She yelled down the hall as he ran away with her blade in his hands.
“You'd have to catch me first!” He chuckled as he kept running.
He liked it when she was on the brink of tears. It was mean but he couldn't help himself when he wanted to see the adorable look of anger spread across her beautiful red face.
In the years that passed, it seemed that his heart grew inseparable from her. He knew one thing from that terrible night three years ago, he realized that she was his mate.
He was scared and overwhelmed, not knowing what to do with the truth. Now he knew why the male children of every Alpha weren't allowed to join the festival, they would meet their mates too early.
Nonetheless, he was ecstatic that the she-wolf he was eyeing was going to be his.
He hid behind a corner, waiting for her to come. She passed him, panting as she heaved her breath. He jumped behind her and pulled her down the floor. Her red ginger hair slapped his face, letting him take a quick sniff of the lilac-scented shampoo she always used.
“Oh my Moon, Iggy!” She hit him on his chest.
He rested his chin on the top of her head as he wrapped his arms around her. She was wriggling, begging to be let out but her protests were settled down into silence.
“You freaking dick, let me go!” Lyra murmured against him.
He chuckled as he looked down at her flushed face.
“Let me just do this, please.” He said, feeling his heart happily jump as she wrapped her arms around him. “And well, you're turning seventeen tomorrow, at least me pestering the life out of you will be my gift before we leave tonight.”
There was a quick pang of disappointment and sadness that flashed through him. He didn't want to be separated from her, but it was necessary. He was going away for two years without going home.
The thought of her meeting a wolf during his leave made him go mad, but then, it was Lyra he was talking about. He knew she was going to wait for him when he returned. She didn't need to know, it would only make it more difficult for him to leave.
“Well, that kinda sucks. A quick kiss on the forehead would have been enough but here we are.” She smacked her lips.
“Uh, unfortunately, forehead kisses aren't free to be given, you'd have to ask me first.” He smiled wickedly and let go of her and pulled her up.
“You said we? Who's coming with you?”
He widened his eyes, remembering he was not supposed to tell her that.
“No, I didn't.” He quickly retorted.
“I heard you say 'we', don't freaking lie to me.” She protested. Her grey eyes pierced through him. It made him feel obediently comply with her.
Oh, Moon! He was always weak when it came to her demands.
“Lex, Larry says he needs to come too.” He admitted.
“What?! But he's not twenty yet!” She said, her eyes explaining what she felt. Pure surprise.
“He’s been a little problem these past few months. It's hard seeing him just out of his usual self. Alpha Camp will be a good distraction from whatever he's going through.”
