Glen began as the skeleton of a screenplay for a short film by Alexander Joshi. He made the mistake of allowing me to read it, which ultimately lead to this, my first novel. Upon reading his original, I went quickly to work, changing the story just enough to make it my own. (I am edit-happy!)
It was his original intention to make the film and enter it into film festivals, but it never came to be. I had started multiple novels before this, never really sure where I wanted them to go, leaving them on semi-permanent hiatus. So, when he opened this opportunity for me, I had to take it! The screenplay had so much potential, and I hope I can do it justice. If there's a film adaptation, he may get to direct it. Right, Joshi?
Glen, himself, came to life thanks to our friend Glen Brown whose calm nature and dark sense of humor seemed the perfect basis for a likable serial killer. I hope my rendition makes him proud! Then comes Dr. Cody! Our loveable doctor is loosely based on our friend Cody Nash who was to originally play the role of Glen's father! Wait until you read it! The difference will throw you off! I also had the incredible help of my friends Peggy Gillette, Misty Holt, and Jesse Gordon, who read my book to make sure it doesn't suck! This book would have been impossible without such wonderful friends!
If this takes off like I hope it will, my other novels may get a new lease on life, but my true hope for this book's success is the comfort and security it will help me bring to my family. They are my absolute everything. That includes my friends, who have stood by my side even at my worst! Even if this book falls flat, I would be fully satisfied if they enjoy it!
I do, however, hope that you enjoy it, too! Happy reading!
