A/N: Edited version, muhahaha~
1000 years ago, there existed a demon of the infamous name Meliodas.
He was generally considered to be the most dangerous demon to ever exist, due to the fact that he was half-vampire—the result of the unlikely and unnatural union of the now long-deceased Vampire Queen and the Demon King. This led to him to being a unusual and unnatural existence.
The Vampire part of him was impulsive, and instinct driven; the demon part was rational, but extraordinarily violent, and both were so powerful it was frankly ridiculous. Of course, he wasn't all bad, or impulsive, or childish, or hot-headed, or slightly psychotic or any of that all the time.
He just happened to be that 80... 90... 99.999% of the time.
.001% of the time he was just so depressed it was kinda sad in and of itself to watch.
But anyway, his mood swings were irregular, his powers in a constant state of tug-of-war, and his mental state was sorta like his emotions—all over the place. To put it lightly, he was... unstable.
And by unstable, it was more accurate to say this: it was completely impossible to control him from devouring his foes and allies alike. Everyone was a walking meal in his eyes, which was one of the reasons he's also considered a "dangerous" cannibal.
In every realm that actually had a smidgen of "sense" in its "common sense", it was very dangerous with him around, and everyone—the Demon King, the Supreme Deity, his mom—everyone was terrified of him and his raw power.
Because of his dangerous, cannibalistic and somewhat violent tendencies, the Demon King sent the great mage, Merlin, to trap him in his castle to stop anymore bloodshed for the demons (and grudgingly the other races).
Merlin, curious as to why she was given this unusual task that didn't have an ounce of filial piety in it, decided to test Meliodas to see if he was truly worthy of being trapped forever.
Setting her stratagem in motion, she came to his castle in the winter, dressed in rags and playing the part of an elderly woman, and asked for a place to stay. Meliodas, feeling peckish and being as impulsive and unstable as a little hybrid sh!t like him could get, proceeded to attempt murder.
Of an elderly, rag wearing women who had one foot in the grave already, "so she might as well thank him for ending her misery"—to quote, according to his thoughts. Murder. As an act of mercy.
You see why I'm saying he's unstable?
Merlin realized this as well, and in seeing his foolishness, Merlin knew that there was little to no hope for him; a muscle headed beast could not be reasoned with. The rags fell away to reveal the figure of a beautiful, curvaceous women with golden eyes and black hair.
She sealed Meliodas away with a snap of her fingers, and was about to leave when an idea occurred to her.
An experiment, and who better to be a guinea pig than the Prince of Demons himself?
Merlin smirked her usual smirk before proceeding with her plan, to give him a grain of hope to be free.
'Now,' she thought, 'let's see if he can do it. I've always wanted to explore the emotional capacity of demons...'
Turning back to the Prince of Demons and Vampires, she smiled at him, and made a deal. A deal that caused even him, Meliodas, to despair.
For who could ever love a freak of nature?
