Since we last met our heroes, they'd been alone. Each had gone through a horrible accident and gained incredible abilities. What happened afterward, hm? I'll tell you.

"Investigators say that there is still no signs of what caused the fire at the downtown apartment buildings, Mi Casa, but they're still looking. On other news. The miracle survivor, Penny Walton, has been let out of the hospital today. Doctors say her body is showing incredible healing, and she'll be out flying planes again in no time!"

Jane watched the news report closely, her glasses reflecting its light. She wore a blue, baggy hoodie, which covered most of her face with the hood up. She was sitting in a breakfast café, holding a hot cup of coffee in her hands.

She brought it to her lips, downing a few gulps. She gritted her teeth, clenching the cup.

'Shit.. It still won't burn me. Why won't it burn me?'

She thought to herself before the news caught her eye once more.

"Infamous scientist, Jane Williamson, is still missing. Here's a recent photo of her. If you have any news of her, please immediately contact authorities."

Jane quickly finished her coffee, setting down her cup. She knew the coffee was scalding hot, but it felt like an icy cold wind to her throat. The hot cup felt like an ice cube to her hand. The strangest thing? She didn't mind. It felt natural.

She put some change down onto her table and stood, walking out into the full weather. There was a warm breeze in the air, but the sky was covered with gray clouds. She couldn't feel it very much, of course.

She sighed, trudging her way back to her friend's apartment. When all else failed. She knew she could go to her life long best friend, Chuck. Chuck was smart, like her, but much more open. He'd been there for her for as long as she could remember.

"Where did you go this morning?" Chuck asked, sipping some tea. His hazel eyes looked over Jane, taking in her appearance. It was normal for him to do this, as he was prone to wanting to study everything.

"I went to get some coffee. Does that bother you?" Jane asked as she took her hoodie off, setting it down on Chuck's couch.

"Yes?! Your face is all over the news! If one person recognizes you, you're done. Even if you have those newly colored eyes." He said as he poked accusingly at Jane's face. Since the accident, Jane's once brown eyes had become a mystic violet. She HIGHLY disliked this.

"So what? I deserve to be locked up. Have you seen me? You know what I did to that cop. I'm some freak!" Jane said as she looked at Chuck, her hands starting to coat themselves with frost.

"Jane, your hands." He said nonchalantly, looking down at Jane's palms. Jane huffed, hastily trying to get the frost to retract back into her skin.

"So, I was thinking," Chuck began, sitting down his tea, "we should go visit that Miracle Girl!" He grinned.

"No." Jane replied.

"Whaaaat? C'mon! It'll be fun! And it'll give you an actual reason to get out of the house." he said as he nudged Jane's arm. The Egyptian woman looked at him with a blank expression before groaning.

"Fine, fine. I'll come." She rolled her eyes. Chuck grinned and nodded excitedly, his ruffled black hair bouncing.

"Alright, let's get a move on!" He said as he pumped a fist into the air. The two used Chuck's vehicle to drive to the Walton's farm. Once they arrived, they climbed out and walked toward the porch. Jane had her hair down, and decided to wear contacts instead of her usual glasses. She also wore a pink outfit. (This was Chuck's doing, of course. He wanted to "reduce suspicion", but Jane knows he only wanted to see her in pink.)
