Toni's POV

Of course the first person I had to go all HBIC on just had to be my best friends cousin. Shit, and she was so nice about it. Her friend looked like she was ready to slit my throat and she remained calm and was still polite to me. I would've never been able to do that. Ugh and she's so beautiful I can't even get over it. I don't like her though. I absolutely can't like her no matter what. If I'm already attracted to her this will end badly on nuclear proportions. I will push her away no matter what and make sure she knows that her and I are enemies and that's how it will be from here on out.

"You okay, babe?" Reggie smiled at me as we began to walk outside for lunch.

"Mmhm. It's just a lot to take in ya know?" I replied.

"Yeah of course. There's a lot of new students and we'll have to figure out how to accommodate but it's not all bad, like Archie and Betty's old friend is here and she seems nice!" He smiled at me.

"Yep. She sure is." I muttered.

"Toni, can you at least try to look on the bright side. I know you don't like the idea of all this but if you be mean to them they will only be mean back and that's what will start fights." He explained as he stopped me. "Promise me you'll try to be civil." He said with his hands on my shoulders.

"Okay. You're right." I nodded. "I'm not saying I'll be perfect, but I'll at least try."

"Thanks, Toni." He said and then kissed the top of my head. "Let's go to lunch now."

Reggie and I then held hands and then continued our way outside to sit. Archie and Betty moved tables and where sitting at a bigger one than normal and I knit my eyebrows together in confusion.

"Uh what's going on?" I asked.

"Oh! I invited my cousin and her friends to sit with us!" Betty cheered.

She's so excited that her cousin is here, it's honestly sweet. Why have we never heard of her before though if they were so close?

"Is that okay?" Archie then asked.

"Yeah, of course." I smiled and Reggie and I took our seats. A few moments later the redhead and her friends made their way over to us.

"Hey, guys!" She smiled happily as she sat down next to Betty and her friend who got mad at me sat next to her. The two boys then circled the table and the shorter one asked me if it was okay if he sat there before he did and I nodded.

"Hey, Cheryl—I mean Cherry. I'm gonna have to get used to only being able to call you by your nickname." Betty chuckled nervously.

"It's fine." Cherry smiled. "The effort is highly appreciated."

"Then I'll make sure it sticks! Now tell me when you moved back to Riverdale! I haven't seen you since—"

"Let's not bring that up here please." Cherry butted in and Betty nodded. "I know it's been awhile, but it's still hard to talk about and I rather have it be private."

"Right, I should've thought of that. I'm sorry." Betty apologized to her.

What are they even talking about?

"But to answer your question, I moved back a couple years ago and started freshman year at Southside." The redhead answered. "I'm so happy to be here though!"

"Yeah, this school offers a lot that ours didn't, like a newspaper!" The youngest girl asked.

"And cheerleading, which I'm so trying out for." Cherry added.
