"Have you been to a writer's room before?" Toni asked. Lacey looked up from putting the packets at each chair and shook her head. "You want to sit in?"
"Should I?" Lacey asked. Toni smiled and nodding.
"Depends on if you're going to accept the terms for the set designer," Toni said. Lacey smiled.
"You know I am girl," Lacey said. "I think this is such a dope idea."
Toni squealed. "I'm so nervous and excited."
"You'll be great. You want to pray over the room before they come?" Lacey asked. Toni nodded. Lacey finished putting the paper down before walking over and holding Toni's hands. "Lord, as Toni prepares to produce this mini series, we ask that you bless each person coming into this room with an open mind and spark ideas that will cause the reach of this project to span to each person it needs to touch. Give Toni the wisdom to execute the vision You have blessed her with. Remove all doubt, confusion and negativity that could hinder it. In Jesus' name."
"Amen!" Toni yelled. Lacey giggled.
"I'ma go make sure the refreshments are stocked and late Cass know I'll be in the meeting with you guys."
"Okay."
Lacey walked out of the conference room and breathed in nervous excitement. Ever since she'd done that shoot for X, she was more into set design and when Toni came with the idea to help out with the set for her Youtube series, Lacey was nervous. Toni's short films were growing in popularity and Lacey wanted everything to go well.
Lacey decided to shoot Jay a text while waiting on the pot of coffee to brew. She rolled her eyes when he called her.
"What up?"
"Nothing, I'm just a little nervous about a meeting."
"What you got to be nervous for? We G's."
Lacey rolled her eyes. "You irk. What you doing?"
"Leaving the gym," he said. Lacey nodded. "You coming through later?
"I can," she said. "I'm free after lunch."
"Cool. Probably gonna bbq later and get in this pool."
Lacey nodded, telling him she'd make sure to bring her suit this time. People started to come in so Lacey got off the phone with Jay and introduced herself.
"This is Lacole Knolls, one of the creative directors working on the project," Toni said. "This is Jamie, one of our writers."
"Nice to meet you," he said. "This is your business?"
Lacey smiled and nodded. "Yes, my business partner and I own it. Nice to meet you, too."
"Everyone's here," Toni said. Lacey nodded before following them back into the conference room.
