How intriguing mankind is. Easily noticed, easily forgotten.
In all of her life, Bethany had never been in a mess as deep as this one. For miles around, she could see nothing but snow, forests, and distant mountains that seemed to stretch to the sky. However, after pacing for a while, she would see in the distance what seemed to be the remains of a camp. This meant that people had in fact been there at SOME point. This filled her with an overwhelming sense of hope. She began walking over, as fast as her weak legs would carry her, being pushed on by adrenaline and determination. It felt as if her bones were charged with a strange electricity, that her muscles, and even soul, were screaming for her to keep going; to survive.
As soon as Beth reached the camp, she set to work. She began pushing the snow out of the area the best she could, creating a dry area. While she DID need to try and find civilization, she needed to sustain herself even more. Her plan would be to restore this camp, and stay here until she could get onto her feet. Judging by the state of the place, no one was using it currently, anyways. The camp itself consisted of a tent, with a small bedroll inside, the remains of a campfire, and a chest, with a rusted off lock. It wasn't much, but she was going to make it home.
One thing that Bethany had noticed was that the ground under the snow she moved was completely dry. This snow wasn't melting, and hadn't for a while, in fact. This was an annoyance, as that meant that the snow was there to stay, unless she could find a way to get rid of it. She stumbled to the chest, opening it. Within were a couple of rations, enough to theoretically last a day, a sturdily made hatchet, a short sword, a flask, and a book, with a sun embroidered onto the front. The tools were a miracle, but were nothing compared to food and water. She grabbed both quickly, and enjoyed a meal, feeling the rush of energy it provided.
After about an hour of pondering what would be the most important, she made up her mind. Better shelter, a fire, and food. She had no idea how long it would be until she found civilization, so she had to prepare for the long run here. Grabbing the tools, and getting herself situated, she headed off towards the woods, knowing that wood would be an essential.
