Chapter 22: Stargazing With Clem

*The party ended and you all went back to your rooms to rest before the boat raid tomorrow*

[POV Of Your Room]

*You pulled a chair up to the window and looked up at the stars. It made you feel at peace for some reason*

*There was knocking on your door. You didn't know who it could be other than Clementine, now that Aasim was gone*

*You got up and went to the door*

*Clementine was there when you opened the door*

*You assumed something bad happened*

Y/N: Did something happen again?

Clementine: What? No. I just wanted to talk. If that's fine with you?

*It'd been a few days since the last time you and Clementine just had a real conversation alone. You'd both been busy with things*

*You wanted to talk to her, but you hoped it wouldn't be awkward after what happened*

Y/N: Where's AJ?

Clementine: He's in bed. I made sure he got to sleep before I came over. What're you up to?

Y/N: Just looking out the window. Trying to calm my nerves before tomorrow.

Clementine: I could use something so calm my nerves right now.

*Clementine looked out the window*

Clementine: Stars have always been confusing to me. Space as a whole is pretty confusing.

Y/N: They don't make much sense to me neither.

*You thought about the bell tower for some reason. You used to climb it and admire the stars from the top. It had been a while since you've been up there*

Y/N: You needed something to calm your nerves, right? You wanna go on a little trip?

Clementine: A trip..? Where to?

Y/N: Just trust me. You'll like it.

*You put on your boots then you and Clementine headed over to the bell tower*

[POV Of Bell Tower]

*The staircase was destroyed and the grass was growing high. The bell had fallen to ground level*

Y/N: This place is a lot more wrecked than I remember.

*Clementine looked up*

Clementine: So, we're taking the walls up?

Y/N: View's best at the top. Ready to climb?

*You grabbed on to the wall and started climbing. Part of the metal bar had rusted and fell off when you stepped on it*

Clementine: Looks a little dangerous.

Y/N: More dangerous than walkers? Don't worry. Just try not to step on any parts that look brittle.

*She hesitated*

Y/N: Am I gonna have to carry you up?

Clementine: Okay, okay. I'm coming.

*She grabbed on and started climbing the wall*

*You reached the top and went up onto the roof*

Y/N: Haven't been up here in a while.

Clementine: Wow.

*You both looked around at the view. For a couple kids living in an old abandoned school in the middle of nowhere, being at the top of the bell tower made you feel like you were at the top of the world*
