CHAPTER EIGHT

I really don't know what's wrong with El. She's practically pregnant yet she's having a date with that guy whom I didn't even know existed until now.

So, I decided to walked out. To show her that I am absolutely not in favor of it.

Im just kinda annoyed because... because... I explained already. Plus, I dont like the aura of that guy. The way he looked at El? So not right. I just couldn't trust my bestfriend to him. Uh-uh.

After all my classes, I went to look for a job this Christmas break. Just to earn something for Eleanor and our baby.

I went to Lucy's Diner and Cafe. LDC for short. It's Eleanor's favorite restaurant. And this place serves the best hot chocolate in town. Hmm... technically, it's the only cafe in town so.

It's now 5pm. The place isn't that crowded. Maybe because of snow. People hardly get out from their respective houses.

But thank god, Lucy is here. What a perfect timing.

Lucy is my aunt btw. She doesn't have any children, and Im her favorite nephew. She's currently in her usual table, sipping something from her cup and reading the news paper. Dont get me wrong but she has an office, but she told me once she likes being around her customers even though she barely pays attention to them.

I went to her table and sat in front of her, "Hello, Lucy." I greeted, and gave her my famous grin.

She looked up from what her reading and studied my face for 3secs. Then she just went back to whatever she reads without saying anything.

"Lucy?" I sang.

No answer.

"Lucy, Lucy, my beautiful Lucy." I said, extending my arm and messing her brown hair.

"I am so mad at you Ken Rogers!" She snapped.

"What did I do?" I said, puppy eyes.

"You will have a child in few months and you didn't even tell me about it?"

"'Cause I know Mom already told you."I said lazily.

"But still!"

"Okay, okay," raising my both hands, "Im sorry Lucy, and I promise next time I will tell you right away."

"Good." She said and smiled. That's what I love about her. She never prolongs any issue. "So, what do you want dearie?"

"Can I work here? You know, just to have a little savings for Eleanor-"

"Of course!" She cut, "Anything for my favorite nephew!"She said and grinned. See? Told ya.

"So when can I start?" I asked.

"Whenever you want son." She said, reading the news paper again.

"What about like right now?" I asked again.

"Sure" She answered simply.

"What should I do then?" I asked again.

"Celine!" Lucy called.

A girl with tanned skin, black hair and brown eyes, maybe on her 26, but very very hot, cane to our table. Me? Awestruck.

"Yes Lucy?" She said, without acknowledging me.

"This guy here," Lucy pointed at me, yet Celine didn't even glance. "I just hired him. Maybe you could show him some things he must do?"

"Okay. Sure." Celine said and walked away to the counter.

I just kept staring at her. Which is very rude. I haven't seen her here before. Maybe she's new.

"Is she new?" I asked Lucy.

"Yep. So go now and let her tell you what to do." She said.

I immediately got up and went to Celine.

"Hi, Im Ken." I said to her, while she's washing some cups.

"Celine." She said and looked at me, smiling.

"Nice to meet you." I said, trying so hard to sound cool.

"You too. By the way, do not flirt with me, you're too young." She said. I was shocked. Unable to move. Gosh, did she already find out that I have a crush on her?

I didn' t answer that of course, I was probably blushing.

When some girls walked in, Celine said to me, "Watch me as I take their orders, you will get the orders of the next customers."

I nodded. And so I did watch her.

As she took the customers' orders, she was smiling gorgeously. I couldn't help but to stare at her face. When she came back, she sent a piece of paper to a window connected to the kitchen.

"So, you got it?"She asked.

I just nodded.

"Just dont forget to repeat the customers' orders okay? To be sure."

"Okay." I said, out of words.

Then when the next customrs came in after 5 minutes, I took their order succesfully. Feeling a little proud of myself.

"So?" I said.

"Not bad." Celine replied, half smiling.

"Yay." I said.

"Now, Im going to serve their food. Watch me." She said

So did I.

It looked so easy actually. She handled it smoothly and graciously.

When she came back, I clapped silently. Then she rolled her eyes thay made me chuckle.

When it was my turn to serve, it all ended good. Gosh. Im like a pro.

"Good job Kenny." Celine said, grinning.

"Thank you for the compliment but please, dont call me Kenny." I said to her.

She smirked. "I will because I want to."
