Bestfriends In Trouble

Chapter Ten

It was now the start of Christmas vacation. And at 7:00pm earlier, Grace texted us to go at her place. She said we would have this emergency meeting for our little christmas party, which we traditionally do. So I, on the other hand, had to cancel my dinner with Drew. Not that I mind.

When I arrived, there was someone missing. Ken didn't come.

"Where's Ken?" I asked Grace, "Did you text him?"

"Of course." Grace answered. "But he said he couldn't come or might be late cause he has an important matter to attend."

"What would that be?" Gail asked. "Is he on a date?"

Feight shook her head and said, "I dont think so." 

I didnt even know she was listening. All she does is text her boyfriend or post something in social networks.

Even without Ken's presence, we still planned our Christmas Party and just had fun.

We also watched Step Up The Streets and made ourselves some caramel popcorn.

"Is that Ken?" Gail asked while gazing out the window.

"No way." I said. "Who's that girl?"

"Oh sweet. That's-" Grace said and paused. "Wait uhh... I forgot her name sorry. But she's pretty.

"Maybe Gail was right." I said. "He went out on a date. With a girl whom we hadn't met."

"Chill, El." Feight said. "We still don't know the whole-"

Before Feight could finish, we saw Ken leaned closer to the girl. And they Kissed.

"Gail's right." Feight finally said.

"Screw them!" I shouted. Hoping Ken would hear me even though it was quite impossible.

Grace just closed the curtain's window and said, "How could he? He's an asshat."

"Maybe because he thought that El was going on a date with Drew." Feight defended. "Since he was there when that Drew asked you out amd you said yes."

"Well. I cancelled." I said. "He shouldve just told us that he was going out or something."

"Its his life. You can't control him." Feight defended again.

I rolled my eyes as a response.

"Why do defend him?" I asked.

"Because we still don't know his side." Feight answered. "And that reason is enough."

"Maybe you just still love him." I mumbled under my breath.

"For goodness' sake El, I am not in love with him okay?" Feight said. "I just care. Im his friend."

I fell silent on that answer even if I wanted to slap her.

Then someone knocked on the door. Im pretty sure that its Ken.

"I'm on it." I said.

I unlocked the door and opened it. There I saw Ken Rogers. My supposedly best friend forever.

"Hey." He said with that annoying cute grin he always had since the first time we met and gave him the coconut pie. "Sorry Im late. May I come in?"

"Sure." Feight answered.

"Cool." Then Ken got in, taking off his coat.

Silence filled the room. As Ken sat down on the carpeted floor, feeling at home, he said, "so what's up with you guys?"

"We just planned out the party for our Christmas Party." I answered and sat next to him. "What about you?"

"Oh you wont believe it-" he said

"I know right?" I cut. "So who's that girl you just dated this night?"

"What are you talking about?" Ken asked with confusion.

"You know what Im talking about." I said and looked at him straight to the eyes.

"Gods of olympus Eleanor!" He said, smiling. "I wasn't on a date."

"Told ya." Feight commented.

"The girl I took to her doorstep is just simply my co worker." He explained. "Look, after class, I went to Lucy's and applied as a waiter. Just to have some sort of income. I promised your dad that I would find a way. And I am doing it now El."

I nodded.

"But you kissed her." Gail commented.

"I didnt kiss her!" He shouted. I guess he begins to be pissed. "The wind blew hard and there was something that got into her eyes and I just had to blow it off okay?"

"He's innocent!" Feight supported.

"Thanks babe." Ken said.

"Eew. Dont call me that." Feight said and laughed.

"Im sorry I really thought-"

But before I could finish, Ken's lips was touching mine. But just in a couple of seconds.

I couldnt clearly see what my friends reactions because I was just looking at Ken.

"What was that for?" I asked. Dumbfounded.

"That was to show you what I feel. Eleanor. Even before we made that mistake, I guess I liked you like you if you know what I mean. And since you are ny bestfriend, it became love and like. And I just cant stop thinking about you."

He paused but I didnt  say anything.

"Eleanor, can we start over again? Can you be my girlfriend?"

I heard Gail said awwwwww. And Grace was like 'ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod.... and Feight was like 'seriously?'

"Since when did you realize that you want me as your girlfriend?" I asked.

"Since I started kissing you in that car." He replied, blushing.

"So, why are you asking me now? Why not yesterday or the other days before this day?"

"Because Drew asked you out and you said yes. And I just dont want to lose you. I love you Eleanor Stevenson."

I couldnt speak and I dont know what to do.

Do I love Ken? Maybe. He's my bestfriend, my brother, my protector....

Somehow I crushed my lips to his. Kissed him softly. Pouring my emotions. And he kissed me back.

"Guys!" I heard Grace shouted, "if you dont stop for 1 more second, Im gonna kick you out of my house and never let you come back here even if you freeze your asses to death!"

So we parted and begun laughing.

"So I take that as a yes." Ken said and winked.

"Surd but dont you ever wink at me again Kenny." I said.

He chuckled and raised his arms, "Yes! Eleanor is back!!!! And She's my girlfriend!"

"Im always here." I said.

"Yeah I know. But your mind seemed so far off. You never showed any emotions." He said amd the other three agreed.

Maybe I was really lifeless that time. I was sad. But now Ken is here. And he's mine... Im realive.
