Chapter 12: Onslaught

'Lucy wake up!' I heard Faiths voice yelling. 'We are being attacked!'

In four seconds I was up and pulled my knife out. It was pure chaos around me. I heard a gun going off. Once.. twice.. I could vaguely see green uniforms. Someone grabbed me by my neck. I felt a sharp cold blade pressing against my throat. Then I heard a gasp and the hands got weak. I heard the person behind me fall. He was coughing and crying, untill he went quiet. I looked up and saw Kate staring at me. Her eyes were watery and she was trembling. 'I.. I am sorry. I am so so sorry.' She fell down in tears. 'Thank you..' I wispered.

I stood up and looked at the chaos. I saw Anna stabbing one person after another. The camera's were flying around capturing the bloodbath. I gripped my knife firmly and ran into the chaos. Where-ever I saw a green uniform I stabbed. It felt horrific and nauseating. Sometimes I could feel the bone. I also felt the blood splashing over my hand. My survivalinstinct and adrenaline took over. One by one I heard the gasps and groans. Don't think about it. Don't think about it. Don't think about it.

I felt a cut on my cheek and two on my arm. Worry about that later. Then suddenly everything was quiet. I fell down in fear and disgust. Then I heard a scream. I quickly looked around. It was Faith. Her screams were horrifying, but they described how I felt. We won.

My legs felt like pudding when I walked back to Kate. She had her hands over her head and she was curled up on the ground. I embraced her as hard as I could. 'It's okay, it's all okay.'

'No.. No it's not. Please, I cannot.. '

The voice of Willow cracked halfway through. She was crawling to her brothers body. Was he dead? No he was moving. I quickly got up and ran over, despite the pain that came from my cuts. River was clenched his teeth, unable to speak. He was shot, the blood was flowing from his leg. Without thinking of the camera's I took off my jacket, t-shirt and my tanktop. I gave my tanktop to Willow, who smiled thankful. She gave it to James, who had done the extra medical class. He carefully wrapped the top around his leg, with a lot of pressure. I already had my shirt on again. Anna also joing the circle. 'I didn't do medical, but even I know that that top will not save him. We need real medical supplies.' Although I didn't like her, she was right. As if the gamemakers heard this - which they probably did - the map that was laying a few meters away lit up. There was one small blue dot. Luckily it was nearby.

'Anna, Faith, Heath, Emmeth, Lucy, come with me,' James said, 'Kate, Toby and Willow. Stay here. Even if he.. does not make it, wait for us. We will be back before the sun rises.'

He stood up. 'We cannot lose time. Come on.'
