Almost Family

Raven's POV

Don't get me wrong, I love my boyfriend. As we held each other earlier that day, it was hard to say he felt anything other then love for me.

But he had lied.

I didn't really intend to, but while I was holding him in the living room I had noticed. There was no old partner, he was talking to something else. 

Whatever it was, it wasn't as important as my current situation. I hadn't told f/n yet, I need to talk to someone else first.

F/n had gone to talk to Dick and Mr. Wayne to relay information to the justice league. 

Taking the time I had, I walked the streets of the over under world. I had on a dark blue skirt that reached down to my knees. Dark purple stockings covering the rest of my legs with black tennis shoes. I had on a black tank top with a few purposefully bleach stain lines across it, making orange white streaks on the black shirt. Over top I had on one of f/n's hoodies. It was white and the front was opened, about one size to big for me. I had the sleeves pushed up and reminded myself of when f/n wore it the same way. 

Back when I first walked in to the under over I would never have wore a skirt, first off because I would be to anxious to do so, and second because of the scary stares I had gotten back then. But now things are different, after f/n's work in the under over has changed it drastically. It's almost safe enough to open up the secret city to the one above it, but that's gonna take a while.

I walked up to the stall that I had so many times visited before. Fragrada turned to see me and smiled.

"Hello my little Raven. You didn't bring that boy did you? I don't care how busy he is I'm practically his mother! I swear, there's a reason I never had children of my own."

I loved to talk to the older woman and I would have loved to change the way I responded, but in the moment instincts took over.

I leaned over the count to look at her closely and show her I was serious.

"Fragrada... I'm pregnant."

It took her just a minute to close shop and take me to her home. After the under over was improved, she lived in a brand new black wood two story house. It was one of the nicer homes and she shared it with a around four young teens. There around the same age Tavari would be now. Three girls and one boy, all working for Fragrada the way I had a year ago, workings and hands in the stall and cleaning her house, and learning magic. The four of them were from poorer families and went home with a enough money to help out. 

After they went home, Fragrada and I sat down in the kitchen like we did before, just much bigger and taken care of. 

She sat her black porcelain cup of tea down after taking a long sip.

"... I thought you said you couldn't have kids?"

"I couldn't... a night ago my dad came to me in my dreams, and he told me he lifted the curse just before f/n had...." I paused a little weirded out that I was actually gonna say what I was about to. Fragrada just rolled her eyes and gave me a wave, "Oh don't be so shy, I know what you to do. So why would your father lift this curse? I thought he didn't want you to have kids out of fear they would be stronger."

"...he figured that my child would make a true heir to his throne, he believes my baby could destroy everything..."

Fragrada put her hand on mine, "Raven... your like a daughter to me. The same way f/n is. I know you, and I know your strong. Don't look at this as your father's grandchild, look at it as YOUR child. Knowing you and f/n, I couldn't possibly see this child hurting anything." 

Her serious yet soft expression changed to a happy smile, "On the other side of this, how do you feel?" 

I smiled, looking at the woman that has been more of a mother and friend to me then anyone else I know before placing a hand on my stomach, "Over whelmed to be honest... I've never been so happy and scared at the same time."

"Oh f/n's gonna be ecstatic when he finds out! I myself cannot wait to be a grandmother!" She said with a small laugh. 

We talked for hours, names, having a baby shower, what to do to prepare. Eventually Fragrada looked at me slyly while I was taking a sip of tea.

" You know, maybe you and f/n should get married." 

I nearly spit my tea out, she started talking again while I forced myself to swallow the tea, "I'm being serious girl! You and that boy have gotten in one fight over the year or two that you've both been together, and after which fell even deeper in love with each other! If, IF, somehow I get a hold of him, and he hasn't thought about proposing to you, I would ring his scrawny little neck!"

I laughed and smiled as I looked down into my reflection in the tea left in my cup. "... he always has been good with kids hasn't he."

Fragrada's smile faltered, "Y-Yes, he always has been."

She didn't say anything, but I know her mind turned to Tavari as did my own. His mother had become a hero after her son's death, promising not to let something like that happening to anyone else. She had met a human man with supernatural powers and the two fell in love, working together as partners in Texas. 

She was doing a lot better, she was stronger then ever before, prouder and brave, but we know she still hurts.

I felt my phone vibrate and picked it up to see, f/n calling. I answered it before reminding Fragrada not to say anything.

"Hay babe, how did the meeting going?"

"Sup, It was alright, a bit boring of a fly to Gotham and back, how was your day?"

"Stopped by Fragrada's to see how things were, I'm on my way home now."

"Huh, you know, I should stop by there some time," Fragrada's face twitched as a bit of violence flashed across her face, "well, I'm at home so, I'll see you soon call me of you need me Rae." 

"Bye."

"Bye." He said making a kissing noise.

We hung up and I looked at Fragrada, "I'll make sure we visit again soon."

"Alright sweety, love you." She said giving me a hug, "love you too... mom." She hugged me tighter after I called her mom and turned away before I could see her face.

"Alright kid, see you soon. Bet that boy for me would you."

"Alright, bye."

I had tears in my eyes but I could tell she was crying, doing her best not to let me see.

I said nothing about it and left, knowing now for sure that we were truly family.
