just like that, ophelia's world had changed.
alison dilaurentis was dead. once ophelia's best friend, found dead in her backyard. she was walking with quinn when she found out. spencer, aria, and hanna watched in horror as the cops brought the body out. ophelia felt sick, almost throwing up on spot but instead she passed out.
she woke up in her bed surrounded by her once close group of friends, minus ali. it all felt like a dream when she woke up.
"s-she's gone." ophelia spat out. the girls all looked broken, especially emily. "what happened?"
"well, they found her at her house. then, you passed out. quinn found us and we called your brother." spencer said. "she's gone. actually gone."
emily sat alone in the corner, staring out the window. "you good, em?" ophelia said. no answer. a tear slipped out of her eye.
"i think we should go. bye ophelia. see you tomorrow." aria said with a forced smile. as soon as they left, she cried. who could do this? sure, ali did make some enemies but none of them would go this far. would they?
a knock came from the door and trevor appeared. he saw the tears and ran to hug his sister. "hey, it's okay. they will find this person and they will rot in jail. i'll try and call the dilaurentis family tomorrow but right now, you need sleep. you can take off too. i'll take quinn to school when i go to work." he kissed her forehead and left her alone.
she shut her eyes and dozed off for about an hour before she was awaken by the sound of footsteps in her room. her eyes focused on a blonde, applying lipstick in her mirror. "ali? y-you're dead." the drawers looked like they have been torn apart but alison didn't seem to notice. her red lips smirked as she strutted over to her bed.
"don't always believe what you see, my darling. you should know that by now. where's that locket i gave you?" she touched her chest and revealed the golden, heart-shaped locket. "keep that safe, don't let it fall into the wrong hands or both of our lives could be ruined. now lay that pretty head of yours back down. this will all make sense sooner or later." she picked up a picture and smirked. "i'll see you girls soon, don't worry."
suddenly, she opened her eyes. it was morning and she felt more nauseous than ever. her drawers weren't a mess like they were last night, so maybe it was a dream? she hopped out of bed and was going to open the door when she saw a single tube of red lipstick sitting on her vanity.
A FEW DAYS LATER.
trevor and ophelia made their way up the church steps to meet emily and her mom. they both gave hugs before walking in. the church was filled with almost everyone who lived in rosewood.
"i'm going to the bathroom." as she walked up to the bathroom, a couple caught her eye. she couldn't make out who it was but she wanted to know. after they pulled away, she got a better look at their faces. aria and mr. fitz? aria began to turn around so she ran back down the steps and into the church.
"everything okay?" alison's mother stood in front of her and smiled. ophelia gave her a big hug. "thank you for coming! all the girls are sitting up front. alison would have wanted you all first row." she saw her friends staring blankly at the casket. aria appeared behind ophelia and smiled lightly.
"can you believe what a scene this is?" hanna laughed.
"ali would've loved it." aria said.
"popular in life and death." ophelia glances at emily who was just spaced out and upset. arias phone began to beep and each of the girl's eyes lit up.
"anyone we know?" aria just shook her head, telling them it was her mom. suddenly the church doors opened and ophelia gasped, causing the girls to look. jenna marshall.
alison's mom took a seat next to the girls. "did you see that jenna marshall is here? i didn't realize she and alison were friends."
"they weren't." ophelia muttered, grinding her teeth. ophelia wasn't the biggest fan of jenna. she went to summer camp with ophelia a few years before her grand entrance into rosewood and made her life a living hell. as the mass began, ophelia turned back to look at jenna. she sighed and stared back up as the mass proceeded.
as soon as the ceremony ended , the girls shuffled outside with ophelia trailing behind them. "emily, spencer, aria, hanna, and ophelia." detective wilden. ophelia rolled her eyes at the sight of him. he knew her older brother but clearly the others didn't know him.
"wilden, what do you want?" another person ophelia wasn't fond of.
he just chuckled. "you were all friends of the victim, weren't you?" all five nodded as he handed out his card. "well i'm going to have to talk to you."
"we talked to the police when alison went missing." spencer said, reading the little paper.
"i intend to go over all your statements as this isn't a missing persons investigation. it's a murder. rest assured, i will find out what happened that summer." he strutted away, leaving the five speechless. they also spotted jenna getting into a car. this situation can't get any worse.
"do you think he knows about th-"
"no! how could he?" ophelia said. all of their cellphones rang simultaneously after she spoke. "i'm still here, bitches."
"and i know everything. A." their voices sounded almost scared as they spoke together. ophelia sighed and looked around, seeing if alison was watching her funeral play out. it seems like a sick prank she would pull. no sight of her anywhere.
did alison visit all of them last night? they all got texts from A so maybe? she couldn't stand any of it, she just shoved her phone back in her bag and walked away.
