(C/n).
That was her new name. She honestly liked it. The sound of it was quite fitting.
She walked through the halls of the large ship in silence, trying to find her way around in the still-new environment. She rarely saw any other soldiers, as it was the middle of a working day. However she didn't mind.
She could figure things out on her own.
Hopefully.

A tall figure suddenly rounded the corner and slammed into her. The two of them both stepped back abruptly.
Never mind. She was hopeless.
"Oh- sorry." She said shyly.
The man in front of her waved his hands, "no don't worry about it. I wasn't paying attention" he admitted. He watched as the female soldier stepped aside slightly, and for some reason, he seemed to notice how lost she seemed. He tilted his head, "You new here?" He suddenly asked.
(C/n) sighed, "is it that obvious?"

Another voice suddenly cut in, "North stop talking with the lower ranks before we're late!"
The purple-armored soldier sighed, turning to reply, "hang on a second will you?" He huffed. "Don't mind her." North said quietly back to (c/n).
"So what are you trying to find?" He asked.
The girl looked off to the side, "uhm, training area 636, I think." She replied.
The purple soldier took a step back. "Really?" He asked.
     "Yeah..?"
"Well what do you know~" the male said, placing a hand on the girl's shoulder, "I'm actually heading there now." He said.
     "Really..?" (C/n) asked, skeptically.
The male removed his hand, gesturing behind him to where the other soldier waited impatiently for him. "Yeah, it's two floors up. If you're assigned there then we're all in the same squad." He said. "C'mon" he offered, leading the way to the elevator.

She followed him up and to the training area. The pink soldier he was with didn't bother trying to make conversation with her.

A few turns and door later, they entered locker room 636.
Several soldiers were already present in the room.
"Hey guys, we've got a new recruit." North announced to the others. The pink soldier, which (c/n) had learned was South, brushed past him to get inside, ignoring his statement.
A male wearing tan armor approached. "Hey, (c/n) right?" He greeted, sticking out his hand.
She girl shook it hesitantly, tilting her head, "Uh- Yeah, how'd you know?" She asked.
He pointed towards a window behind him. "We got a new name on the board, 'been wondering who it was." He replied.
(C/n) searched for her name on the leaderboard. It neared the top.
     2nd place. To be exact.
"I'm York By the way." The male interrupted.
(C/n) nodded, "nice to meet you."

The girl entered slowly, noticing that despite the common commotion of soldiers getting ready for the day, all eyes were inadvertently focused on her.
'Wow.. first day and I've already got a reputation..' she thought.

In the second week, (c/n) had finally felt pretty settled in with the group. She had developed a pretty close relationship with most of the members of her squad, the only problems being mainly Carolina and South.
She never really did get along with girls..

"New-Fucking-York I am going to slap you!"
The sound of laughter filled the air.
(C/n) threw down her cards in disgust, having well over 15 of them in her hand at the moment.
The laughter continued. The girl rolled her eyes.
"Uh-huh, it's hilarious isn't it? You were just dying to play all those +4 cards on me weren't you?" (C/n) huffed.
     "C'mon (c/n) it's just a game" York laughed.
North and Wyoming too couldn't hold in their fits of giggles.
The girl huffed, she wouldn't lie and say she wasn't smirking as well. But she didn't want to fall victim to the boy's antics. She held back her laughs, and stood.
"H-hey where are you going, the games not over?" North called through his snickers.
(C/n) grabbed her helmet off the table. "I've got things to do." She replied through a falsely serious tone.
     The boys howled in anguish.
"Oh come on (n/n), it's just a game~" York pleaded, "dont go and work, it's the one hour you have off"
Now (c/n) was laughing a little. "No, no it's fine I've already lost anyways." she waved. She put on her helmet and made her way towards the door. She looked over her shoulder briefly, "you boys have fun. Destroy York for me if you can" she called.

She hit the button to open the sliding door, but stopped as it opened. She took a step back. The counselor was positioned in the middle of the doorway, his hands tucked behind his back.
The commotion in the room stopped abruptly.
"Agents Maine and (C/N)." The counselor called. "The director wishes to see you immediately"
The two looked to each other in confusion as the counselor left.

(C/n) pointed to Maine, "did you do something?" She asked him. He grunted in response, standing. "Well I didn't do anything either." (C/n) exclaimed.
     The room was still hushed.
"Don't worry too much it's probably some sort of assignment" North assured.
"Right." (C/n) replied. She watched as Maine looked down to her questioningly, and gave a shrug. "Let's go, I guess." She said.

The two soldiers walked side by side down to the director's main office. The man the myth the legend, Director of project freelancer, stood before them, and briefed them on the situation. They were to be sent on a mission.
     Sidewinder.
They were meant to go to the ice planet and destroy an insurrection outpost. He gave minimal details on the situation, leaving the planning entirely up to the two soldiers. They looked to each other, then back to the map.
"This mission should be simple" the director stated harshly. "Im expecting nothing but the best from you two."

     "Yes sir"
