just a little rush, babe.
━━━━━ CHAPTER THREE,
the third step in tabitha ventrix's downfall.IT WAS NOW OCTOBER 1929. Approximately a year had passed since Tabitha Ventrix first landed (more like fell, but specifics don't really matter anymore) on this planet. Her assumptions of the planet being Earth were correct, and that was one of the only things Tabitha congratulated herself on to this day.
(One of the other things Tabitha congratulated herself on to this day was being able to make friends, but that sounds pathetic, even to Tabitha, so that one other thing doesn't really matter.)
The exact date, in case you were wondering, was October 23, 1929, and to be even more specific, it was a Wednesday. At least, that's what Tabitha thought. Though her sense of time and direction (mainly time, since her sense of direction was never really that bad) had improved greatly, she still had to work on her sense of time. There were days when she woke up, got out of bed and got dressed and headed to work thinking that it was a Friday instead of a Monday, or a Tuesday instead of a Wednesday.
(The most embarrassing experience Tabitha had to endure was when she confused a Saturday with a Tuesday. She woke up at exactly 6:00 on the dot, and then proceeded to get up and shower, going through with her normal Tuesday morning routine. She was halfway to work before she realized that it was a Saturday, and then she realized that the place she was headed to was closed on the weekends, as well as the fact that her shift for her second job didn't start until 4:30 that afternoon. She mentally (and verbally, though that was at home) scolded herself for her air-headed-ness and trekked back to her small apartment complex that she was lucky enough to live in).
The time right now was about 7:00 PM, which was around the time that Tabitha was allowed to leave since her shift was over at 6:50 PM every Wednesday evening. Of course, Tabitha always stayed later in the hopes of getting maybe just a little more money (which, let's be real, she will most likely never get due to the fact that she is a she). Which was what Tabitha was doing on this Wednesday evening. She was helping the owner—a very kind old man—clean up the mess a couple of rowdy teenage boys made in Aisle 7.
"Thank you so much for helping me dear," the owner, Mr. Bradbury, spoke with a very strong—yet still understandable—German accent. "You are allowed to leave and get home to your own devices."
Tabitha smiled kindly at the elderly man as she spoke, "You know I won't leave you alone to clean up this mess, Mr. Bradbury. You need all the help you can get if you refuse to let me do this for you."
Mr. Bradbury sighed, yet couldn't help as he smiled at the kind young woman he had the pleasure to hire and get to know. She reminded him of his granddaughter, and Tabitha could safely say that Mr. Bradbury was as close to a grandfather as she was ever going to get, seeing as how her real family was somewhere on another planet, most likely in a whole other galaxy.
