Numb as a pillar

"I'm really sorry for not believing you" Harry whispered into Draco's neck.
Harry could feel Draco's body shake, and he let out a long sigh.

Then Hermione burst her way through the now small crowd in the hallway, her eyes a bit red as if she'd been crying.
"Oh Harry I'm so glad you're okay" She breathed.
Harry gave a weak smile and let go of Draco to give her a tight hug.

After a moment of hugging Snape cleared his throat.
"As sweet as this reunion is, we have bigger issues to deal with. Come with me Potter, Weasley and Granger. Draco go get some rest"

Draco frowned "I think I have a say in this matter too Severus"
Harry reached out and put a hand on Draco's arm to try and comfort him, but this only made him flinch with pain.

"You're injured, it's best you rest. Take more of that potion I gave you" Snape said.
"Harry's injured as well and it seems fine to let him into that meeting of yours. Do I need to remind you he's also the one who saved her? How is that going to be a fair judging if he's all soft on her"

Harry grit his teeth. "For the record I saved your life so I think you'd be a bit more grateful" He snapped, feeling  his head thumping in the background.

Draco turned to glare at Harry "Well maybe next time just leave me there to die, no one likes a self proclaimed saviour"

That stung. Harry winced at the words and watched helplessly as Draco stormed up the stairs and slammed one of the many bedroom doors shut behind him loudly.

"Long exposure to the Cruciatus curse can cause pain and irritability, I have made a potion to help with it. Do not blame yourself for his behaviour. Follow me to the meeting room." Snape said and walked down the corridor, his now black robes billowing behind him.

Pansy couldn't see anything, all she knew was she had been taken to this building and that Draco had been rescued.

She felt numb, tears couldn't quite make her feel alive anymore she felt more like a pillar. Because inside she was just as cold and dead as one. Her heart felt like it had been plunged into deep cold water and she didn't particularly care if it were to stop beating.

Now my parents are.....there's nothing to live for. If you know who finds out I'm going to be killed anyways. Everything I did to save them has failed, and I've only managed to hurt everybody else in the process.

She curled up on the floor, covered her face with her hands and felt the magical bonds holding the blindfold on. Closing her eyes she wished herself into a dark cold abyss.

Harry trudged up the stairs, not sure weather to try and find Draco or just go and feel miserable somewhere else. Eventually he found himself standing outside his door staring at the doorknob as if it was poison.

Knock knock. "Draco?"
There was no awnser.
"Draco it's me, can we talk?"
There was some faint shuffling noises.
"I'm not really in the mood to talk Potter"
Harry let out a shallow breath.
"Okay, I'll see you tommorow then"

Harry turned, admitting defeat but respecting his wishes regardless.
The door squeaked open and Harry turned right back around to see Draco  at the doorway wearing his jumper.

My jumper. Maybe this means he's not all mad at me?

Draco glanced at Harry breifly then fixed his eyes on the ground. "I'm still mad at you but I'm really glad you're okay"
Harry gave a half hearted smile.
"I don't want you to leave, can you sleep with me tonight" Draco asked, his voice quivering.
"Yeah of course"

Maybe things were going to be okay after all. Or were they? Because deep down in Potter's magical core there was a crack forming, his magic was becoming unstable.

And that night he dreamt about a locket and he had a feeling it was nearby. He could just about make out a name in the whispering of the night, Regulus.
