I jumped up with panic. Coughing water and unable to catch my breath. I looked around frantically, searching for any hint of familiarity. No such luck. I was about to scream when the face of a beautiful looking boy graced my eyes.
He noticed I was staring, and smiled. wow he has a beautiful smile I thought.
He eased himself off the wall towards the couch I was sprawled on.
My eyes widened suddenly, here I am, in an unfamiliar place, with a boy who looks like he could easily beat me in a struggle. Oh hell no.
He laughed suddenly, the sound drawing me out of my panic. "You look like you just saw a ghost."
I let out a breath. do killers usually laugh at their victims? Oh wait yes.
"I will scream" I warned him.
"Go ahead, but I'm not sure how well that will serve for you. You are underground. So, how about we try a different game, the name game. I'll start. I'm Park." He said, offering a hand to help me up.
I stared at his face wearily, before accepting his hand and pulling myself up. "I'm Izzy."
"Nice. Izzy. Can you happen to tell me how you found your way here?"
"Me? What do you--" I trailed off searching his face for any trace of humor or sarcasm. I found none.
"Look, the last thing I remember is I went by the lake near my house, It's really pretty, so I just wanted to touch the water, but it was almost like it pulled me in...." I stopped suddenly. I sounded crazy. I am crazy.
Suddenly, I laughed. Like, a hysterical laugh. "Oh my god... I must've fell in. I'm dead aren't I? I am. I must be. Lakes don't pull people in..
"Izzy, I can assure you, you're not dead." He said.
"How?"
Park gestured towards a monitor system. I could see my heartbeat. Beating. Okay, not dead. Just crazy.
"Where am I?" I asked him.
"Izzy. You are in a place where no human could ever venture."
"But.... I'm here."
"Exactly." He said pointedly.
I scoffed, "What are you saying, I'm not human?"
"Thats exactly what I'm saying."
I shook my head. "Okay. I'm done. You're crazy. Thanks for whatever you did, I have to go." I start to gather my stuff.
"Izzy. Wait." He instructed.
I stopped and turned to face him.
"You lost a parent, didn't you? Police couldn't figure it out. About 2 years ago?"
I slowly shook my head, "How did you know that?"
"Because the same thing happened to me. I lost my mom. 2 years ago. Alot happened to get me to here, but listen, just wait. I'll explain everything. I just.. have to go get the others."
"Others?" I ask. "There are more?"
He laughed at my hesitation, "Relax, only 2 more."
"Oh my god." I groaned.
"What, not friendly?"
"No, my dad has to be worried sick, and my brothers."
He smiled a confident smile and nodded, "I'll deal with them."
"Yeah, have fun dealing with my brother Jay, especially."
"I will." And with that, he walked down the hall while I evaluated my judgement skills. Why wasn't I running.
Good question, Izzy. I don't know. Something about that guy made me trust him. I don't know why. Maybe I'm crazy. Maybe I am dead. Maybe this is all a crazy simulation, or a dream. Yes, a dream. This is a dream.
Park emerged with two equally as beautiful people. A girl with piercing green eyes and light brown hair, creamy, flawless skin and perfect smile. Next to her was a handsome guy that looked like he might of seen way too much action for his young age. I could tell though behind his guarded, tired yet almost bored face he was young. He had light blue eyes and sandy blonde hair. He was slightly taller than Park but he slumped against the wall, with his arms crossed over his chest like he was ready for something world-ending to happen.
Park waved towards the girl, "This is Kristinia." He said, smiling. The girl stepped forward to take me in, but then she hugged me. I froze for a moment but then she pulled back and laughed. "Welcome."
Park then gestured towards the other guy, "And this is Zander."
Zander let out a grunt of acknowledgment. Kristinia spoke then, "Don't mind him, he just has poor people skills."
He smiled at the girl like it was the best compliment he's ever received.
Yeah... this seems like not my scene.
"Alright, you promised to explain if I hung around, I met your girlfriend, and that one, can I have an explaination now?"
Zander let out a laugh and Park scoffed. "Kris isn't my girlfriend, she could break my neck with minimal effort and I wouldn't want to lay next to her when she's having a bad day."
"Never forget it." Kristinia said.
Park shook his head, but then he turned to me, "Izzy, so. There was a lake. One day, you got a strong feeling not to go near that lake, but you just couldn't help yourself?"
"Yeah. Exactly."
He nodded. "Izzy, you are an Akaal Cassimar."
"I'm an aka-what?"
"Akaal Cassimar." Zander butt in. "I'm one, Park's one, Krissy is one and so are you apparently."
"Akaal Cassimar means Ancient Angel Warrior, the Cassimar comes from a long line of defenders. We defend everywhere from demonic forces. We stop the world from having a huge monster invasion crisis like the type you see in those monster movies.
"Is this some kind of cult, seriously. Is this some kind of group where you guys get high, and pretend to be some type of ancient trained warriors?"
"I like her." Kristinia spoke up.
"Yeah. Thanks but no thanks. I don't wanna join your Akaal Cassius whatever group. I just want to go home."
"Cassimar." Park said
Suddenly, a glass paperweight was bulleting towards my head.
A scream got caught in my throat, static brushed all over my skin, it got hot suddenly and it felt like time stilled. I threw my hands up and shielded protection, and I waited for the impact that never came. I peeked up to see the paperweight stilled in the air.
"Holy shit," I said. "Am I doing this?"
"All you Izzy." Park said.
As I lowered my hand the paperweight lowered too.
I could hear my heart beating wildly.
"How? What the hell?"
"Akaal Cassimar, Izzy. You have powers. You are an angel warrior. Our parents, went to war over whatever they there trying to protect. Our parents aren't dead Izzy. They're hiding. They are protection something, and in order to find them, we never the power of all of us.
"No." I laughed, disbelief flooding my eyes. Powers or not, my mom is dead. If she wasn't. She would have sent me some kind of sign.
"My mom, is dead. She would never just leave me, my brothers or my dad. Never. She would have--"
"Found some way to contact you? Reach out? Yeah, my dad would have too. But listen, facts are facts. This is real, we have powers and our parents are missing." Zander said.
"Can I just.. have some time. To think, about whatever this is. My life, my head is literally spinning right now. Just please, can I go home?"
Park slipped a small, yet almost sad smile. "Yeah. You can. We can talk tomorrow."
"How will I reach you?" I asked.
"I'll be there Izzy, come on. Let's take you home."
With that, Park took me into a hallowed out section of wall, and pressed a button and in an instant, we where back near the bank of the lake near my house.
Following me up to my porch, I opened my door. Footsteps came at my quickly, and my brother Scarr enveloped me in a hug. He then let me go and shoved me out onto the porch again. "Where the hell where you Izzy."
"I-" I started, but Park cut me off.
"Izzy was showing me around the neighborhood. I just moved here with my sister and I met her at school. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get her in trouble."
By then, my brother and dad had been there, eyes clawing over the tall guy standing next to me.
"Ok.. thank you.... uh..." said my dad.
"Parker." He finished.
"Parker. Thank you Parker. Izzy will see you tomorrow." My dad said.
"Yeah I will," I said, "I'll see you tomorrow."
With that, Park gave me a quick hug and walked away and I walked into my house to a long and sure-fire conversation with my family.
