Family Dinner

"This dinner of yours will never work" Hook said as Emma pretended to organize her closet. Spinning around on the spot she glared at him and Hook just shrugged "it's true" he defended himself. It was all he had said over and over again since she had told him. Despite being on edge this past week this the awkward outburst of David in her apartment she was ready to pretend it never even happened for Henry's sake. Well it was probably more for her than it was her son because he knew about it and Henry seemed to actually like having Hook around so she was more willing to keep him there all the whilst he wasn't putting her son in any danger. She supposed Hook must have said something to Henry about the argument because Henry has stopped asking her questions and he no longer asks how long Hook will be staying here, her guess was that he was just going to soak up what time they had left. Henry loved all of Hook's crazy pirate stories and Emma thought that some were made-up, they had to be or at least she hoped they were. She was slowly over the thoughts that he would be a bad influence on her son and decided to just let them spend time together because whether she likes it or not he's actually quite good for Henry, now that Neal was gone and Henry's father was taken from them, all of them she was somewhat relieved that Henry had someone other than her.

"oh don't be silly" Emma countered, "besides I have everything all figured out all down to where everyone will sit and how the night will go." she continued but Hook just looked amused as if to imply he's more confident the night will end in disaster. Closing the closet she pulled out the suit. The one she'd have Hook wear tonight and handing it over the top of her bedroom door she moved closer to Hook and sighed. Hook eyed the thing wrapped in some kind of see-through plastic. "I'm not wearing Neal's clothing" Hook announced and Emma could have laughed she almost did but refrained from laughing at the last second. "oh no" she grinned. "Now I have been taking care of you for weeks and it's time you paid your debts Hook, all I ask is three things of you tonight" Hook just stared at her confused but he never actually thought he would have to be apart of her silly little idea of a family meal and since he's not family at all there was no chance he would have to play any part but what exactly did she want from him. She was right though he did owe her for saving him and nursing him back to health he just hoped she wouldn't ask too much of him. Could the blonde ask too much of him though because he couldn't imagine a single thing he wouldn't do for her or Henry, knowing she would never love him back or not he still couldn't turn that switch off that loved her and Henry but in a few weeks when he put some space between maybe his feelings will dull or not be so suffocating, only time will tell.

"yes" Hook said and that was all Emma needed as she went on to explain exactly what her plans for tonight entailed. "I have everything worked out, Mary-Margaret and David are coming, with Neal so Henry can see his uncle and I can see my little brother and of course there is also Regina, I'm only asking three things so please follow my instructions please-" she paused for a second trying to guess his reactions but it seemed he was simply waiting for her to continue. "Firstly please wear the outfit I hung over the door, don't worry it's not a dead man's clothing it's actually my fathers I think anyway I know for certain it did not belong to Neal. Secondly play nice with EVERYONE, especially my father and keep the pirate jokes to a minimum we've heard them all by now. Thirdly do not ask me where the rum is again and lastly if at any point the pain becomes too much you have to tell me immediately so I can fetch your meds. There won't be a lot of moving around it's mostly sitting but just in case."

Hook chuckled to himself as he smirked at Emma and she was dumbfounded. "what?" and he simply smiled before saying "Emma, sweetness that's four conditions. But worry not - I'll do everything you asked but the outfit it had better be more comfortable than those pajama contraptions, it was the worst thing to have ever touched my skin" he winked at her and with that she exhaled in relief and left the room, leaving Hook to his own devices for now.
