I woke up to sun shining into my new apartment, the smell of freshly washing bed covers drifting up my nose. My head poked up from under the covers as I squinted my eyes, people honking their horns as their late for work. I smiled softly as I remembered something that happened a few days ago, one of the workers here had helped me move in. She was quite beautiful, her white skin glistened with the slight sheen of sweat on her face and neck.
She had bright, curly red hair that fell over her shoulders. Though she had to put it in a messy bun to help carry boxes. We exchanged names, it was quite pleasing to her her voice say my name. It was quite uncommon. Her name was very nice also, I wouldn't say uncommon but it wasn't used a lot. We got all of the boxes up the stairs and down the hallway, placing them into my cozy apartment.
It smelled a lot like lavender, a smell that annoyed me. It reminded me of my mother, she loved the smell of lavender. She would have perfumes, febreze bottles, and many more things that smelled like that putrid scent. It hurt my head, made my throat stuffy so I had to get rid of the smell. I asked the beautiful lady what I could do about the smell. She was quiet for a moment, and then stated to get something that smelled like cinnamon.
A few days ago I got a cinnamon air fresher and it was already smelling better. I hadn't seen her again, I asked around but people said they didn't know who I was talking about. She was probably new and wasn't able to meet everyone yet. Back in my bed I tried to remember if she said anything about going anywhere, but I couldn't remember. I got dressed and made myself breakfast, eating at my small table.
I hummed softly, a tune my father had made up for me when I was small. He was a strong man who carried himself well. My father was a rose, a fresh scent every time he was close to your nose. My mind was occupied with past events as I ate. I wish I could remember what the cinnamon girl was told me that night, I wish I could remember why my father had left. I wish I could forget that awful smell of. Oh, what was it?
oh yes,
lavender
