“i’m coming!” he shouts. he takes his time though. he’s too exhausted to see which of his brother’s friends had shown up; he had cut most of his own off when he got sober.

he is surprised to see his brother’s ex standing on the other side of the door. “nate’s not here.” he goes to shut the door, but her hand stops it.

“hi, ryder.” the girl speaks. he freezes.
