My Lucky Charm

20. Graduation

It's been two weeks since I found out that I am expecting. In all honesty, it's so weird. I crave chocolate, and burgers at all hours of the day. Nash being the man that he is, makes sure I get whatever I want. It's graduation day and I am dressed in my cap and gown. I'm beginning to show but you can't notice in my gown thank goodness. I'm standing behind my fellow students, about half way in the line, seeing as they go in alphabetical order. I wish Cassie was here, but of course she can't be, because my baby's father is a murderer.

The line is slowly moving, and I hear the principal saying a student's name that I haven't heard before.

"Avery Cabot" Principal Morton announces. I see a Greek God looking guy walking towards him, taking his outstretched hand to shake. He takes his diploma and turns to walk down the stairs again, towards me. His green eyes meet mine and he winks. My face grows hot and I am hoping that it is just the pregnancy hormones. I have to mention this to Nash later.

Speaking of Nash, I look out at the audience and see my man sitting there with so much pride in his eyes, and a huge smile across his face. He sends me a thumbs up. Sitting next to him is Julie who holding a very expensive camera and in tears, I'm guessing it is from seeing Cameron and Noah getting their diplomas.

I hear my name and make my way up to the stage. Shaking the principal's hand, he gives me my diploma. I look out towards Julie just as a flash is released from her camera.

"Congratulations Miss Queen. It's been a pleasure to have you in our school" He smiles

"Thank you" I reply, leaving the stage to sit with my classmates. I end up in the fifth row, right in front of Nash's chair.

"You were great babe" he whispers "Congrats"

"Thanks" I reply, leaning back for a quick kiss.

After the last dozen students get their diplomas and the valedictorian speech is given, we are dismissed. Nash and Julie say that they will be back shortly, so I wait by the large tree next to the school parking lot. I'm looking down at a beautiful yellow flower next to the tree when I hear a voice.

"That flower is almost as beautiful as you" The voice says.

I look up and meet eyes with Avery.

"Ummm thanks..." I stammer, hoping that Nash will soon get back.

"I've been gazing at your beauty from afar for awhile now. How about we go somewhere private to talk." He suggests with a wink.

I hear Nash's voice booming next to me "Like the fuck she is! Get the hell away from her. We both know you want more than a little chat."

"Sorry... I thought she was someone else" He stammers, and quickly walks away.

"Yeah, I'm sure you did" He hisses, while he turns to me. "Are you okay? Did he touch you?" Nash asks, checking me all over.

"No, I'm fine. The real question is why was he afraid of you?" I cross my arms. Not knowing if I should be anxious or not.

"Holy crap" I say

"Yeah, apparently Brampton attracts crazy people." He replies. He takes my hand and we walk to the car. "I have a surprise for you"

Twenty minutes later we arrive at a large department store. Nash leads the way inside and all I am thinking is what the hell a surprise would be from a department store.
