PERFECTLY CRIMINAL
—Chapter Two—
Unpredictable

"What happens if Carson James needs my address to send me a letter or something?"

"Already got you an apartment sorted."

"And what if he arrives at said apartment and I'm not there?"

"Cameras outside so we'll see his car immediately and distract him while you get inside."

"And how would I do that?"

"There are three entrances/exists not including the front door."

"What about a phone?"

"Burner."

"How do you even know I'll get the job?"

"Other applicants will either not turn up thinking it's been rescheduled or turn up to the wrong location. Besides you have a brilliant CV."

"What happens when I'm there?"

"You'll be his personal assistant. You'll have access to the building."

"What if he finds out I'm a girl?"

"You're going to be wearing a wig, eyebrows, a beard and we'll add makeup to your face to remove feminine features and you'll be wearing baggy clothes. I highly doubt it?"

"How on earth will I leave the house dressed as a man without anyone seeing?"

To this, Hayden raised an eyebrow.

"I think we both know there are plenty of ways to leave your house undetected. Now. Anything else?"

"Nope." I said crossing my arms over my chest.

"Brilliant. Interview is on Monday. Now maybe we should go back to the ball." Hayden stood up, grabbed my arm and dragged me back up. We both walked back to the ballroom.

"There you are." My mother said shaking her head as I was hauled off to another couple but I couldn't concentrate on the party or the guests. All I could think of was me, as a guy working for the richest man in bloody London whilst A) trying to keep my cover and B) trying to steal from him. What on earth was my life?

***
Not that I would recommend theft but for those particularly curious individuals who are wanting to know just how a good heist is pulled off, here's how:

The first tip when it comes to theft is always to blend in. This may sound obvious. But that means none of those hats that cover half the face, that's far too obvious. If you try to hide from a camera you attract more attention which really has the opposite effect of the one you intended. You don't want to look afraid or shady.

The second tip is communication. If you're part of a team, no comms unit. It can be spotted. Instead initiate the crossover. This has to be mastered. Two second contact minimum. A slight move of the hands between notes.
If done correctly can be perfect. If it isn't done correctly: Game over. Hayden was brilliant at these to the point where I hadn't noticed he'd passed me a note until my hand grazed a small piece of paper. I briefly glanced at it.

Good luck ;)

I smile to myself before stopping in front of glass window and studying myself.

The best tip I knew was the first one Hayden taught me. When doing a big heist, it's important to have a cover. But the best covers, have the most truth to it.

And so I knew the person I wanted Nickolas Parker to be was the person I was. It was so much easier to be me than be someone else because maintaining that is far more difficult.
