SEPTEMBER

Jayce went out. He trusted her to stay in bed. She did need to rest, and even if she was just laying around she was resting. Win, win. He wandered down towards the run down looking homes his people had started to abandon... It broke him a little to see it.

Paint peeling off houses, bricks falling out of chimneys, yards over grown and taking over, ivy growing into roofs... The town had a long way to come. It was self sufficient, and people bought stuff or traded stuff. Most communities people left were poor around the territory.

Damn. He'd neglected it for far to long. Especially in this state. He gritted his teeth, and balled his hands into fists. " This has got to get fixed. " he muttered. The pack house was so beautiful, especially now since Mika had cleaned it to perfection. Even it needed an update. He was far to well off for his people to live like they lived in hovels and had nothing.

He made his way to a large bustling house in the middle of town. It was a second pack house to say in the least. A large two story manor equipped with many rooms, a kitchen, and entertainment. It would be perfect for some of the pack as well as the Hunters from Crystalleaf.

Most of the pack was already here. Good.

" Out of the way. Alpha is here! " someone called from the back. They parted like he was infected with a disease. He cringed. They shouldn't do that. They looked scared.

He sighed softly, and stopped. Then he heard them.. the few kids the pack had. They were playing ,and ran straight into him. He was rooted to the ground like a tree, but two little girls fell to the ground rubbing their heads. The boy stood in front of them protectively as if Jayce might hurt them for playing.

He smiled , and crouched down. " You two okay?" He asked softly before glancing at the boy. He was confused to say the least. The two girls nodded tears in their eyes. Jayce chuckled softly and scooted the boy to the side.

He pulled the girls close and wiped their tears. " Sorry about that. I didn't meant to hurt you two, but you do need to watch where you are going. Next time it could be something worse. You could get really hurt. " he ruffled their hair a little before looking at the boy. He was stiff, and scared.

" Sorry Alpha Jayce! " said one of the girls. She gave him a hug, and the other one did too. He tensed, but let them and hugged them back. This was... different. He felt different, but in a good way. It was a needed change. Almost like he'd really missed some things. Honestly. He had.

" Are you their brother?" He asked the little boy.

" N-No..." he said looking down to his hands.

" You are a brave little one. Make sure they stay out of trouble okay?" He smiled, and winked to the girls.

The boy beamed up to him. " Always! Come on Kiki, China, lets go!" He said taking one of their hands. The other took his and they all ran off.

Jayce smiled as he watched them. Young and innocent. He couldn't help but admire the boy. He would make a fine warrior one day. He chuckled again and stood. The pack was still watching him with wonder. It was a side they had never seen. He liked that it was out though. He walked to the large house.

Sike was leaning against a pillar with his arms crossed over his chest and a smirk. Jayce rolled his eyes.

" That.. was something. " he said sarcastically.

" It was me being the alpha my pack deserves. " he answered with a grin.

Sike nodded, " I agree. It's been to long since I've seen my best friend. "
