"But Etee!" The young boy whined, "I don't wanna!"

"Please, it'll be fun!" Ethan reached out his right hand as the beautiful little boy stared at it skeptically.

With a frustrated and defeated sigh, he took his hand with a small rosy smile. The little boy loved holding hands with Ethan, they were warm and he absolutely loved the affection it showed.

"You always get your way." The boy fake pouted though it was untrue. Ethan almost always let him do whatever he wanted. But it was okay because Ethan loved him.

With a cheeky grin back, Ethan counted down from three and both boys jumped off the small little cliff that wasn't too high. The little boy was scared of the heights but he did know how to swim. Drowning was his fear though, so the only reason he decided to jump was because he always felt safe with Ethan.

With a slight jump from the bottom of the shallow lake floor and small but quick kicks from the younger boy's short legs, he shot up and reached the surface. As he inhaled the air deeply, he opened his eyes and was met with the beautifully blurry figure he called his "bestest friend".

Ethan always reminded the little boy that bestest was not a word and the boy simply argued that it made sense to him and it added just that little more of super in the word best. Because he knew that their bond was more than just best friends...

"Wasn't too bad, huh?" Ethan smirked, chuckling as the other boy simply pouted and rolled his eyes, rubbing them a little right after to get the water out.

"Guess not." He replied, both of them swimming slowly to the even shallower part of the lake where their feet could touch the ground.

Both of the young boys couldn't stop smiling and it wasn't just because they we're having fun at the lake, no, it's because they loved being with each other. So, so much.

Ethan knew the second he laid eyes on this magnificent little boy that he liked him and that he had to be friends with him. It was just such an unusual pull of affection and need that both boys had experienced even before they knew each other well.

The younger boy always needed constant affection. It did not matter who it was with him or whether he was attracted to the person or not. This made the two boys even closer than ever, with the constant hand-holding, hugging as well as kissing each other on the lips at certain times. It was not weird for them, and although Ethan was not like the little boy in that way, he still let the boy kiss him or cuddle with him or hug him whenever he wanted. They were basically a cute little couple but they both had no intention of it being that way at the time in their young years.

Ethan huddled in the water, head and neck poking out as he smiled at the little boy. He was having fun swimming in the water. Splashing it up, doing flips and handstands. Ethan simply sat back for a while and picked out every single detail of the little boy that he loved. And it was everything.

With the three year difference the boys had together, Ethan was obviously the more mature one and he often took care of the other boy as though a bigger brother would to the smaller. But, even if they had a more brother and brother relationship, Ethan couldn't help but adore the little boy in a different way.

Ethan was 12 at the time, making the the other boy nine years old. He would turn 10 really soon but Ethan's birthday would come right after. The young boy really looked up to Ethan, but... he realized that he didn't want to be like him, he wanted to stay with him and be something more.

"Hey, E?" The boy suddenly stopped what he was doing and stared back at Ethan. He wanted to ask him so many questions which were swarming his head. He was a very talkative child and Ethan had come to terms with his usual giddiness and was just happy that he had the energy to talk for hours on end. Ethan nodded his head and let the boy continue.

"Do you like any girls in your class?" The boys attended the same school but their grades were separated so they didn't get to see each other until after school ended and in the mornings when they met halfway from their houses as they walked to school.

Ethan simply snorted and shook his head "no." He found out he was gay not too long after he met the boy at 10 himself. He did have a few... no many girlfriends throughout elementary school and right then in middle school. He didn't want anyone knowing about his attraction to boys because he was afraid people wouldn't accept him or hate him because of it. So, he would use girls as a way to cover it up, but he would always treat the girls like princesses so it didn't matter to them if he really liked them or not.

"Nope, I don't like girls." Ethan obviously felt safe sharing this information with the boy because he knew that his parents didn't necessarily know about Ethan or that he would speak about anything they did to anyone else. It was like a silent agreement between the too. People knew they were somewhat friends but they had absolutely no idea how close they really were and they both wanted to keep it that way. They were each others little secret.

"Oh... E, I think I like boys." He hadn't realized exactly what Ethan had meant so he thought that he didn't like any girls at that moment. Not that he preferred boys instead.

Ethan grinned, he figured that this was the truth but they never really talked about crushes, identity or sexuality. Just wasn't something they really cared about before. But that smile immediately dropped when he saw that the other boy was crying.

"Every other boy I know is attracted to girls, there must be something wrong with me. I'm... I'm disgusting" The little boy let those few words sink in to what he felt as suffocating air. "There must be something wrong with me" ."I'm disgusting"

He had never felt so little of himself. With the countless times he told himself how different and weird it was to like the same gender, he never told himself that he was... disgusting. But that was how he felt. He realized that Ethan hadn't said anything but simply encased his much smaller body with his arms.

"You are definitely not disgusting. You're the most amazing, beautiful, intelligent person I've ever met. You're perfect, not even coming close to disgusting. We both like boys and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Don't cry, I'll always be here for you, you know?" The little boy just kept on crying but he understood and nodded, feeling so much better. Gosh, this was why I love him so much, the boy thought, he's so nice and amazing- oh my.

He looked back up at Ethan and smiled through his tears, closing his eyes as Ethan softly swiped his tears away with his thumb. Ethan gazed down at the little boy in his arms, his heart beat quickening as he suddenly really wanted to kiss him. He leaned down and kissed his forehead, slowly leaning his head lower and kissing his cute little button nose. He stopped and pulled a little away, maintaining eye contact and occasionally letting his eyes drift lower to his lips. Pink, plump and inviting.

He REALLY wanted to kiss him.

So he did.

The boy's eyes fluttered shut as he felt Ethan's warm and soft lips meet his. This was much more than those little pecks they shared which always left them both flustered and happy. Gosh, this was so much more.

So much.

"I love you...

Grayson."
