James had just about gathered himself up to talk with her, when, "next candidate... James!", his name was called. Oh no, he was not yet prepared for it, he was thinking about something else, but this call was inevitable, so, taking a deep breath, he went in. But, but, but, here came a greeting too sweet to resist, yes, it was from the same girl, "good luck" came the voice, and made him stop for a moment, but he had to go in quick.
Now when he walked into the room, everything just started coming back and storming his mind... walk confidently, back straight, meet them with a smile and a greeting, sit with correct posture and all...
"Good morning"
"Good morning, please sit down."
"Thank you for giving me this chance"
"This is an opportunity for all, so, Mr. ...Jamisovich?, well that is your name? Or should we call you something else?"
"It is Count Jamisovich, but you can call me James, that is what everyone calls me."
So the interview was going very well, there were three interviewers, one of them being a counsellor, noting all the minute things, as expected.
The idea that he might be rejected just by the reports of the counsellor made him shiver, but still he was too determined to let it go... he was tired of finding jobs, and this was it, as he thought. This IT firm shall make him a good livelihood, and even if he is employed in a call centre, bearing people shouting in his ears on telephone would be much better than hearing curses in home and wandering on the roads with no reason."Mr. James?"
"Oh, yes, uhh... what would you like to ask?"
"Actually,..." the counsellor sitting to his right said, in an intimidating voice, "well, you seem to be absent in here, so what are you thinking?"
"Oh, nothing, really."
"You know, being absent-minded is really bad for work..."And there, it was the end... he already showed deficiency, and now was going to get rejected as soon as he left... He was downgraded, but still had some hope to continue.
'Come on, I can still go on'"All right then, tell us about your experience, what job have you done before?"
'No, not this question please'
"Uh, sir, well, t-this is my first job."'What are you stammering for, you fool?!'
"All right, then, but you don't need to be so nervous about that, everyone needs to start some day." This was the head recruitment officer, sitting to James' left.
'Yes, that's what I want to tell you, you fool of a vampire'The interview went on like this for a few minutes, with James advising himself and scolding himself at each step, until finally they came to the conclusion.
"OK, Mr. James, nice meeting you, we'll keep you informed."
"Thank you", said James and left, just as uncertain as he was when coming in.
