-Spy's POV-
-1 month later (Pregnant: 6 weeks.)-
I found Stella singing in my smoking room when I came home from the battle. Her eyes once more returned to the inky blackness she'd grown to know. Despite this misfortune, she continued to play her kalimba with a smile on her face.
Toi mon amour, mon ami
Quand je rêve c'est de toi
Mon amour, mon ami
Quand je chante c'est pour toi
Mon amour, mon ami
Je ne peux vivre sans toi
Mon amour, mon ami
Et je ne sais pas pourquoiShe stopped singing when she sensed me enter. "Welcome back. How was it?" She stood and approached me, loosening my tie while I took off my jacket. "Did we win?"
"Naturally. It was a flawless victory. All zanks to me of course." I laughed, holding my beloved to my chest. "And 'ow has our petite been treating you?"
"Well, they're not quite big enough to be a pain yet, but I've been dealing with morning sickness all day."
"No worries, mon amore. Soon enough we will 'ave out little one in our arms. Are you taking your vitamins? Did you exercise today? Are you drinking plenty of water?"
"Darling, don't worry so much. I've got everything taken care of." She giggled, her hands resting on my chest.
"I'm sorry, mon amore. I can't 'elp it! I just want everyzing to go smoozly." I nuzzled into her neck affectionately.
"Have you thought more about the wedding?" She asked me as we laid in our bed. "I think we should do something small. Maybe just us here at the base and your family. We could fly them down from France if you want."
"Non, I do not want to bring zem into a war zone. Perhaps we can take some vacation time and fly out zere. We could explore ze beauty of France! Go to ze Eiffel Tower, see ze art at ze Louvre, maybe even visit ze arc de triumph." I was so caught up in my excitement, I had forgotten one major detail.
"Darling. I'm still blind, remember?" My face flushed in embarrassment.
"Well what about ze medic's serum?"
"He said he doesn't have a lot of it and it's very difficult to make. Besides, I want to save it for the wedding."
"Well, you could still meet my family. I know they're anxious to meet ze woman zat stole my 'eart."
"Aww, you're such a romantic sap." She teased, rolling over on top of me.
"You love me." I teased back, wrapping my arms around her waist and sitting up.
"You got me." She giggled, her fingers tracing patterns into my shirt absently.
"Is zere somezing else on your mind, mon amour?" Her happy mood seemed to falter a bit.
"I'm just... thinking. That's all."
"Well what are you zinking about?"
"The baby...what if they're born blind, like me? What if they become a troublemaker? What if they don't like Mick?"
"Hush, poupée (babydoll). I promise, our child will turn out exactly 'ow zey are supposed to." She leaned into me, closing her eyes.
"I know...but I can't help but worry." She sighed, nuzzling into me.
"Zere is nothing to worry about, mon amour. I promise, we will work zings out togezer." I took my gloves off, playing with her soft brown hair.
Just as we were getting comfortable, she sat up and dashed for the bathroom. Morning sickness. I followed her, gently trying to sooth her. "Oh mon coeur, I'm so sorry you 'ave to go zrough zis."
"I'm alright...it'll all be worth it in the end," she said, tears in her eyes.
"'ave you eaten anyzing today?" She shook her head, leaning back over the toilet. "My poor petit...I'll get you somezing to eat. Stay 'ere."
I returned a few minutes later with a warm bowl of chicken noodle soup. "I'm back, mon coeur!" I called softly, closing the door as I entered. "Do you feel any better?" She has returned to the bed, tired and weak from not eating all day. "'ere. I brought you some soup. Sit up for me." I helped her up and placed the bowl on her lap. Carefully, I helped her eat. Hopefully this would stay down.
"This baby better be cute." She huffed cutely.
"If our petit looks anyzing like you, zey will be beautiful." She gave a weak smile to my compliment, closing her eyes.
"Finish zis and zen you can sleep, cherie." She nodded weakly.
Once she had finished her meal, I laid her back down. I quietly left the room, heading for the Rec Room.
"Jeremy!" I called, looking for my son.
"Wassup dad?" He was sat in the corner on his phone and a bag of chips next to him.
"I need you to watch over Stella. She's asleep now but she's dealing wiz morning sickness. I need you to make sure she eats and walks around today."
"Where are you going?" Jeremy asked, setting his phone down.
"I'll be in my office doing some research." I said simply. "Besides, zat is your punishment for sabotaging our condoms." (I almost put something really weird here holy dooley!)
"Fine!" He huffed, standing and making his way to my bedroom.
I nodded to the others, "gentlemen."
"'ow's my sheila?" Mick asked, looking up from his poker game.
"She's alright. A little sick as expected, but everyzing is going smoozly so far."
"And tha anklebita?"
"Still too small to cause problems," I said with a chuckle, "but wiz a Scout as a brozer, I'm sure zat won't last."
"They'll be ornery, ya sure ya ready fa that?"
"I raised Jeremy, oui? Surely ze little one can't be worse zen him."
Mick laughed, "ya got a point there, spook." He set down his cards with a grunt. "So, ya though about tha weddin'?"
"Oui. We are zinking of flying to Paris for ze ceremony so my family can come."
"And what do they think of 'er?"
"I'm not sure. I 'aven't told zem," I said nonchalantly. Mick was quiet for a while, staring at me. "What?"
"You 'aven't told your own family that yer engaged?"
"Of course not! My family would interfere in everyzing we did!" I argued.
"How're they gonna react to the roo? When they foind out she's carryin', yer done for!"
"I...I 'adn't zought zat far...you're right!" I sat down next to them, burying my face into my hands. "Zey will smozer 'er! Diana never let zem near Jeremy as a baby..."
"So they're probably anxious to foinally spoil the roo."
"Oh merede...we can't 'ave zat." I shook my head, standing and pacing the room. "Oh but she's so excited to meet zem!"
"Why not just keep the babe a secret?" Engi suggested, overhearing the conversation. "Can't fuss over her if they don't know she's pregnant, right?"
"Zat's perfect! But what will I tell Stella?"
"Just tell her that your family is against sex before marriage."
"Zat might just work...zank you, Dell." I raced off to my office, writing notes and starting designs for the wedding invitations.
Everything must be perfect.
