You looked at the message sent to your phone, your best friends had just pulled into your driveway to pick you and Ben up for the party. "Mum, they're here, we are going to head off now." You and Ben made your way down the stairs to the door. Your mother stood there holding the door open and waving at your friends in the car. "I love you, mum.", you both sang and hugged her one by one as you left the house. Opening the car door you realised a lot more of your friends were in the car than you thought. The car could just squeeze in seven people, but your friend Candice was squished in between the two boys, Jack and Jino in the back. You and Ben sat next to each other filling the car completely. "Eight people on the way to a sick party lets gooooo," Jino yelled. Ben was talking to his girlfriend in the passenger seat. Yeah, she's one of my best friends, how do you think Ben and her hit it off so well? Jack and Jino were already drinking and trying to talk Candice into having a sip. I rolled my eyes and gave Candice a water bottle. "Here it's filled with vodka, that way you don't have to share with those crazy boys." You winked at her. She nodded, understanding it was water and silently thanking you with her eyes. Candice was from a very religious family and, let's just say she follows the same beliefs and thinks drinking will cause you to go to hell. Unless its the 'wine' for communion. Jack and Jino looked at you. "Damn y/n, didn't think you were the type to drink, I like that," Jack said. You rolled your eyes, how'd you manage to become friends with him? You were on the motorway, cruising in between cars to reach your destination. You were thinking about what a good night you were going to have when Dani, the driver, slammed on the breaks. The car was filled with a mixture of swear words as Dani pulled the steering wheel to the right. You had no clue what was happening until you looked ahead of you. The car just ahead had somehow rolled causing a massive pile up to begin. Your body froze in terror, Dani was trying to slow the car down but there was no way. You turned your head and looked out the back window. A large truck was barrelling towards you, trying to slow itself just like Dani was. You turned to Ben and he met your fear filled eyes with ones of his own. "Y/n I-". The car hit the pile up, Candice flying over your head and through the windscreen. Only milliseconds later the truck hit, and that's when everything went black.

Your eyes peeled open to show a bright white light above your head. You cringed trying to pull your hand up to block it out, but you couldn't. You groaned loudly as you suddenly felt the pain in your body. "Oh my God, she's awake." Your eyes turned to the side to see your mother, in tears holding your hand. "Mu-" Your voice was cut off as you struggled to breathe. "Shhhh, honey, shhhh. You're in a lot of pain right now so just relax." Your eyes went wide as you remembered what happened. "Benny-", you croaked. Your mother's eyes welled with tears as she shook her head. A single droplet fell down your cheek, landing on your pillow. You had lost your brother, the only person in your life that was so close to you, they were basically you. Your mother broke down beside you, "You're the only one y/n...you're the only one who survived."
