"if i could have everyone's attention, please?"

cayden's words ushered everyone to a table, ready for the evening to come.

casey made her way from the conversation with her auntie to a small table in the courtyard where zander was already situated, aimlessly scrolling through his phone. upon casey's arrival, zander moved his chair close to her and placed his hand upon her knee, gripping tightly.

cayden began his speech, addressing everyone at the engagement party.

"thank you," he began.

"i will try to make this as quick as possible so we can all start celebrating in style. to start, i'd like to make a toast to the chapter of my life that has championed everything else so far. i cannot wait to commit myself to the love of my life and begin our journey as husband and wife."

cayden smiled down at aimee, nothing but adoration and joy present on his features. his fianceé mirrored his actions.

"aims, i want to save most of the mushy words for my wedding speech but here's what i'll say; i love you with all that i am. you're the kindest, most caring and loving person whom i have ever had the pleasure of knowing. you are my soulmate, the other half of my heart which is so cliche, i know, but it's true. without you, my life wouldn't be complete and i would spend the rest of it in ignorance. i am so grateful that we found each other and that our hearts chose each other, forever. so i'd like to raise a toast to my beautiful fiancé. to aimee!"

the guests echoed cayden's toast, beaming smiles present on everyone's faces.

at this moment aimee had tears, happy ones at that, streaming down her face whilst fighting the smile that was itching to reappear. most of the women in the courtyard were weeping, especially casey. she had never seen her brother this happy in all his life.

after listening to her brother's speech, casey couldn't help but wonder whether zander was the person for her. whether she could picture him saying all these things at their engagement party. of course, she thought about this day, but there was never a clear face that belonged to the person that she would marry.

however, casey couldn't let those thoughts cloud this special moment. she could not be happier for her older brother, she just hoped that she would get her happily ever after.
