My back gave out painful aches, my muscles felt weak and I was covered in sweat. Surely when Mom and Dad gets back from work they'll sweeten up my pocket money for the way I cleaned this place.
Oh how I'd give up anything to be with Maya and Susie right now, back in California, home where I was kidnapped from my best memories like; my first time riding a bike without training wheels, Susie the swimming pro my best friend who had taught me how to swim, my first sleepover with my closest friends and pranking my enemy (the world's worst spoilt brat) Lara Cloonie.
My mind had swallowed me whole as I clutch onto the broomstick allowing my chin to rest on the tip. I missed California, I missed it so much. Suddenly I heard a loud 'thud' at the door. I was drained out of dreamland, losing my balance as the broom landed to the floor. 'It must be Mom and Dad.' I thought. Then I heard another 'thud', followed by banging, kicking and some unidentified choking sound. It's probably Dad trying to scare me, he reckons his a pranking genius, and I thought I lived in a fantasy world.
THUD!
OOAARRGGHH!
BANG!"I'll be there in a second !" I yelled as I quickly made my way to the door, but the 'thudding', 'banging' and 'choking' continued. It's as if I was being ignored completely.
I put my hand on the cold doorknob as it was still being banged off it's hinges and I turned the key...
The door went flying OPEN and I quickly lunged out of the way, good reflexes. Standing in the doorway was a man I'd never seen before, he looked like a nightmare ! And he lunged straight towards me. He tugged at my throat dragging me closer to his yellow stained teeth, blood covered his mouth and his skin was covered in puss-filled pimples. Carved off skin wounds were spotted all around his neck and cheeks revealing bone. His hair was white of colour and his eyes were the birthplace of evil itself as he menacingly stared at my soft skin ready to chew at it.
Panic struck through my mind as I desperately tried to free myself from this psychotic creature of a man. His teeth were so close to my face that I could feel it's plaque settling into the paws of my skin ! "HELP!" I yelled. "SOMEBODY HELP ME!" I continued, pushing his face away from me with the last energy I had left after cleaning the entire cozy house.
I managed to run from his failed-attempted grasp and I found myself in the spotless kitchen catching my breath. The creature didn't give up easily and dragged itself to the kitchen. 'Think' I thought. The creatures choking sounds came closer and closer. 'Think!' I continued. My instincts told me to hide in the small cupboard under the sink, and I did so quickly and quietly. I lurked through the slightly-open cupboard holding both hands on my mouth to prevent any sound. My heart was beating away, I was sure the creature was gonna find me when it entered the kitchen.
The creature had now entered and I got a good look at him. I examined him from bottom up as he continuously looked in the kitchen. His clothes were tattered, dirty, old- so old I could've sworn clothes weren't sewn like that since the 50's ! A horrendous thought had crossed my mind when I realised what I was examining. 'A ZOMBIE !' The zombie started doing the strangest thing I'd ever seen, it raised it's nose in the air and started sniffing for a scent...for it's supper...for me!
Sweat ran down my spine and my bones started to quiver when he made his way to the cupboard. He bent down to the doors and I instantly moved back. I tightly squeezed my eyes shut and grasped onto my mouth hoping for a miracle. Then suddenly the cupboard doors opened...
The zombie grabbed me by my face, its whole hand covered my eyes and mouth. The next thing I knew, his teeth was lunging at me once again. I pushed him off me and ran towards the countertops, but he yanked at my hair. I gripped onto the table reaching for the knife as the zombie tugged tighter at my hair. Pain struck through my skull and I was starting to get a migraine. 'Must, reach...' Was the thoughts that crossed my mind as I dedicatedly toppled over the cluster of knives. I managed to grab one.
I turned back to face the zombie with the knife tight in my hand, pointing at its face. The greedy creature lunged at me and I aimed the knife straight into its eyeball. The knife ripped through its pupil spraying blood all over my face and the floor. The zombie immediately landed to the floor.
Its lifeless body covered the floor with a memory that would haunt me forever. 'I killed a man.' I thought. 'I killed someone with my own bare hands, IN MY HOME!' The thoughts ran wild. My hands started shaking as I looked at them, tears rolled down my eyes as I glanced at the creature.
OOOAARRRGGGHHH!
The sound broke through my thoughts. 'Oh no...' I said. I ran to my room, the closest one to hide in as they dragged their bodies to capture and eat me.
I quickly closed and locked my room door. My heart fell right out of my mouth, or so it felt. "What's happening ?!" I yelled. And with that the creatures started banging at my door. I ran to grab my phone on my bedside table and I dialed 911. --Sorry this line is busy-- It kept repeating. "No, no, no." I moaned. And I re-dialed it as the banging got louder. --sorry this line is busy-- My legs felt like jelly, I was sinking into my fear. Then a thought crept into my mind. 'Mom and Dad!' I tried dialing their number as my fingers failed to touch the screen, shaking with fear. VOICEMAIL-- 'Their phones were probably off' I hoped. 'Surely nothing could've happened to them.' I continued.
BANG!
My room door was being broken down! Hands pushed through the newly formed hole in my door yearning for some flesh. They kept banging and pushing and the hole got bigger and BIGGER! This was my queue to leave. I opened my room window and carefully climbed out. I landed in the fresh cut bushes as I closed my room window behind me. The zombies inside managed to break down my door and they filled my room like a disease, covering and devouring what once was beautiful. "Ha! Nice try on getting me you disgusting monsters!" I yelled at them as they tried grabbing me at the closed window. 'They might be undead but they sure were dumb.' I thought as I turned myself from the window only to find a horde of zombies on the porch and in the street, rummaging around ransacking for food. And they all turned their focus on me...
