1984
You loved Freddie, I mean who wouldn't? He's got the looks the personality, intellect, heart. Need I go on?
Unfortunately, not everyone liked him as much as you did. Your mother.
She has never approved of Freddie's lifestyle, friends and stage persona. You have told her countless time that it is just a stage persona, but she never believes you. She tolerates him because she has to.
As much as you love her, her hatred of Freddie got in the way of your bond. She constantly told you to leave him to find someone else, which you would never do. You loved him and you know if you left him, he'd be broken beyond repair.
Nobody knew that your mother hates Freddie apart from one person, she hides it well to be honest, but not to you or Fred.
She despised him even more so now, since you and Freddie got engaged a little over 3 months ago. She keeps telling you he's a bad influence and he will ruin your life, Paul Prenter comes up in conversation a lot, she says you shouldn't be around him as well, but you were never his friend and you had no desire to be, trust me, you saw the influence he has on Fred was bad, which obviously didn't help this entire situation, but you couldn't stop Freddie from hanging out with him, as much as you had warned him.
Remember how I said one person knew about the Mommy issues. Yeah, well that person is George Michael.
Freddie had told him in 1980, that your mother hated him, you both knew George was trust worthy, so Fred has no problem talking to him.
George didn't believe him at first because your families are such good friends, he couldn't fathom that she hated Freddie. But when you confirmed it he was as confused as you.
You had just asked George about his mother, she was all well and good.
"I would ask you about yours, but I know you aren't not the best of terms now." George said.
You gave him a skeptical glance. "How do you know? Only Fred-" You cut yourself off. "He told you didn't he?"
"Yeah, shouldn't he have? I'm sorry."
"No! It's okay, I was going to tell you, but y'know." You trailed off, not being able to think of a reason.
"What happened?"
"You know that my mom and Freddie have never seen eye to eye. They got into an argument, and like always she keeps telling me to leave him. Which I could never do, she just hates him, and the people around him. And I tell her that I do too. Then she preaches me on how if I know why don't I do anything. And you know I can't!" You pause, then continue.
