I wake up to an empty bed with Jake standing by the bed with a sorrow look on his face. Something was going on.
"Alpha." He says.
"What's wrong? Where Lyra?" I demand.
"Alpha, she's dead." He says.
"What!" I growl getting out of bed.
"Some civilians found her this morning. It was a vampire." He says.
"What?" I growl way louder than I did before. "Where is she?!"
"The word was spreading around the pack like wildfire. So I took the liberty of taking her to the morgue. To keep it on the down low." Jake says. So we go to the morgue.
"Where is she?" I growl at Terri, who was the doctor in the morgue.
Terri pulls out the slide with Lyra on it. He takes the sheet off of Lyra's head and pulls it down to her chest.
"I'm so sorry-" he starts.
"Shut up." I order with a growl.
I look down at Lyra. Her once tan skin was now pale. She was covered in dirt. She had a chunk of skin missing on her neck. She had no blood left in her. This was definitely a vampire. I was I fulling with rage. I wanted to kill this vampire who killed my mate. But I couldn't. The worst part about vampires is that they have no scent.
"What was the time of death?" I ask Terri.
"Somewhere between 11 to midnight." Terri says.
What was Lyra doing out that late?
"Where was she killed?" I order Jake.
"I'll show you." Jake leads me to the spot where Lyra was killed. It was about a mile from my house.
I still didn't understand what Lyra was doing out this late and I certainly didn't understand what she was doing out in the woods. Something was going on with her and like always she never told me about it. And now it got her killed.
As soon as they saw me all the teenagers scattered around the spot ran. I look at the spot and see lots of blood, pieces of Lyra's clothing, and the out line of where she was murdered. I also saw the vampires foot prints. They disapered into the woods though.
"Alpha, I know you don't want to hear this but you need to start planning her funeral." Jake says.
I stand up and look him right in the eye. "Then don't tell me."

Today was the day of the funeral. Melissa crys on Kayla as they lower Lyra's coffin into the ground. Me and Kayla's expression remain the same. Stiotic. I wasn't feeling any emotion right now. I knew Kayla was probably miserable on the inside. Her sister died unexpectedly and no one could stop it. But Kayla wasn't showing it like Melissa was.
I tried to get Melissa and Kayla to bring her back, but they said they couldn't. The reason they could last time was because Lyra wasn't actually dead; she was just in a dream world. This time wasn't like last time. This time Lyra was dead and no one could bring her back.
I got one last memory with her and that was us telling each other that we loved each other. It's hard to think that one second she was safe in my arms and the next she was dead.
Everybody was at the funeral. My whole pack. Lyra's whole family and I mean her whole family. Melissa twin sister was here along with her son. Micheal Chloe and Zoey's father, also her grandfather Micheal was here. Zoey's girlfriend, Maggie was here. Kylie was here with her boyfriend Riley and her brother Kyle, along with her mom Melinda. Grace was here. We all said our goodbyes.
3 weeks later
I was at the base doing paper work when there was a knock at my door.
The past few weeks I had been basically living at the base. I couldn't be at my house. There were to many memories there. Both good and bad. So I barried myself in my work; ignoring all of my feelings.
Tired of getting no response; my father walks threw the door and slams it behind him. "Didn't I teach you to answer the door when somebody knocks?"
"What do you want, Mateo?"
"I've given you time to grieve son, but-"
"But what?" I growl standing up.
"It's time to grow up son." He says.
"Grow up? Grow up?!" I repeat.
"Yes. You've been necleticing your responsibility as Alpha." He says.
"Necleting my responsibility as Alpha? I never leave the office." I say.
"You've been doing pack work. Not alpha work." He says.
"Pack work is alpha work father." I say.
"You've been necleting your responsibility as alpha. Your Luna died before she could give you an heir and we can't do nothing about that. But you need a heir." Mateo says.
"Like you said my Luna's dead, so how exactly do you suppose I get my heir?" I ask.
"Bring her in." Mateo orders.
Her?
The door opens and in steps a blonde hair girl with brown eyes and about 5'3.
"This is Laura Richmen. She's a werewolf who lost her pack and she had to live in the human world just like Lyra." Mateo explains.
Not like Lyra.
"I don't need a replacement mate." I decline her.
"You need a replacement Luna to give you a heir and that's what's Laura's gonna be." He says.
"I don't need to replace Lyra." I growl.
"Yes you do." Mateo growls. "This pack needs a Luna and a heir. Besides Laura is the closest thing to Lyra you'll get. She knew Lyra."
"You knew Lyra?" I ask her.
"Yeah, are horses were in the same barn. Until..." She says.
"Like I said. She's the closet thing to Lyra. Laura will be the Luna and the provider for your heir. That's final." He states.
