Chapter 9

Time passed quickly and before she knew it, Jeongin was parking the car. After turning off the car, Jeongin faced Byeol, a serious look taking over his face.

"Before we go out there, I should probably let you know, the people who come to these races are trouble. Like, worse than Yeonjun. Promise me you'll stay with the girls, Felix, Changbin, and Seungmin while the rest of us are racing?"

Byeol nodded her head slowly and Jeongin sighed. "I didn't mean to scare you, I just want to make sure you'll be safe."

The girl smiled at his words, touched that he cared about her so much. "Let's go!" Byeol opened her door and stepped out as Jeongin did the same. He walked around and grabbed Byeol's hand as he led her to where the others were.

As they walked, Byeol noticed the guys standing around staring at her and Jeongin. She walked closer to him as she tried to not be bothered by their stares. As soon as she saw Minki and Jaee, Byeol broke out of Jeongin's hand and ran to her friends. The two girls embraced her in a hug as Jeongin went to talk with Hyunjin and Jisung. Changbin, Felix, and Seungmin were all doing the pre-race checkups on the racing cars.

After a few minutes, the three boys came back from the cars and talked with the boys that would be racing. Minki and Jaee were explaining how everything would work to Byeol who listened with wide eyes. Just as the girls finished explaining, the guys joined them.

They were all standing around talking when Byeol noticed some people walking over out of her peripheral vision. When she looked towards them, she became a mix of scared and angry. Yeonjun smirked and winked when he saw her. Byeol tugged on Felix's sleeve since he was beside her. When Felix turned around, he looked beyond pissed off.

"Why the fuck are you here?" Felix's question caused everyone else to turn and see Yeonjun and his friends. Jeongin came over to Byeol and stood somewhat in front of her.

"Just came to wish my cousin good luck on his race, what's so wrong with that? Oh, hey sweetheart." Yeonjun faced Byeol and smirked as his friends snickered behind him.

"What's up frog-face?" Byeol's voice was soft, but her words caused Jisung and Felix to bust out laughing. Yeonjun scowled at her as his friends tried to hold in their chuckles.

"You know, sweetheart. I like a feisty girl, I hear they're great in bed," Yeonjun smirked as he saw Byeol's cheeks turn red.

"Too far, Yeonjun." Hyunjin spoke up as he stood in front of his smirking cousin. "The race is about to start, you guys should leave."

Yeonjun only nodded at Hyunjin them winked at Byeol as he walked away, his four friends following.

"I'm really sorry Byeol. If I knew he'd be an even bigger dick tonight, I wouldn't have brought you." Hyunjin apologized as everyone turned to look at the red-faced girl.

"Ugh. I wish I could do something to just shut him up. He's so annoying with his snarky comments and that stupid fucking nickname! But I'm scared. Not of him, but of what he'd do to me." Byeol crosses her arms over her chest and huffed out an angry breath.

"Hey, we'll find a way to shut him up, okay? If anything, we can always give him the smackdown." Jisung held up his fists and punched the air causing Byeol to let out a small giggle.

A sudden loud alarm sounded causing Byeol to jump. Jeongin chuckled and put his arm around her as he and the others headed to a sitting area. As they entered, Byeol saw many people there. She noticed the same guys that were staring at her earlier, they were still staring. Jeongin's voice brought her out of her thoughts.

"So me, Jisung, and Hyunjin have to go get ready for the races. Stay here unless you have to use the bathroom or something. Then take the girls with you. I don't trust anybody here except us, and I want you to be safe." Jeongin gave Byeol a serious expression and she blushed at the fact that he cared so much.

She nodded and he began to walk off, but Byeol called him and he stopped as Byeol walked up to him. "Good luck, Innie." Byeol stood on her tippie-toes and kissed his cheek, then quickly turned and walked back to the girls.

Jeongin was smiling like an idiot and only came back to his senses once Jisung tapped his head. "You're so whipped." Hyunjin chuckled with Jisung as Jeongin blushed, but he couldn't help the smile that stayed plastered to his face and he thought of how soft her lips were against his cheek.

"What was that, Byeol!" Minki and Jaee immediately bombarded the poor girl with questions when she reached her friends.

"Wait, what'd I miss?" Felix came over to the girls and looked between them and Byeol.

"Homegirl over here just kissed Jeongin's cheek!" Minki was playfully slapping Byeol's shoulder as the poor girl blushed.

"What! Look at baby Byeol making the first move! Oh my gosh this is too cute!" Felix smiled widely at his friends and Byeol hid her face in her hands, a failed attempt to hide her blushing cheeks.

"Can't wait till he grows a pair of balls and asks you out," Jjae joined her friends' teasing comments towards Byeol.

"Leave the poor girl alone! Come on Byeol, you can watch them race from over here," Seungmin spoke up and gestured to the space between him and Changbin. Byeol stood between the two boys, thanking them for getting her away from the teasing remarks.

The girls soon came over and stood on the other side of Seungmin while Felix wrapped himself around Changbin. They all watched the track below fill up with the different cars. Byeol saw Jisung's car, but not Jeongin's, and she didn't know what Hyunjin's car looked like.

"Where are a Jeongin and Hyunjin?" She looked up at Seungmin who pointed on the side of the track.

"There's three separate races tonight, they're each going in a different one. First up is Jisung, Soobin - he's one of Yeonjun's friends, a guy named Lucas, and this guy named Vernon. Once they all get back, Jeongin will go, and Hyunjin is last. While there aren't technically any teams in street racing, it's an unspoken thing. So like, me, Jisung, Jeongin, Hyunjin, Felix, and Changbin are one 'team', Yeonjun and his friends are another, Vernon's group is one, and I only learned about Lucas's group tonight. They're apparently from China and really good. There are many many more groups, but us four are among the top racers, and this race tonight is for the big title. That's why it's so important. I think Yeonjun was just trying to get in their heads, and then you came and he saw you as a weakness to the guys so..."

Everyone looked at Seungmin. "That is the most I have ever heard you speak."

Seungmin scoffed at Felix's comment and everyone's attention turned towards the tracks as the announcer stated they were about to begin.
