"Get out of here" the voice had said.

Éponine's vision had been blurred but she could see the vaguest outline of something, or someone. His body was outlined in bright light coming from the fire in the street. His voice was otherworldly powerful yet sweet. It had to be an angel.

Éponine remembered dying in Marius's arms. He kissed her head, told he the loved her, but she was dead. Yet the sounds of gunshots filed the air and she could hear distant screams.

"Get out of here. Get to a hospital. Get help" the voice persisted still standing over her. She saw him look away and back at her one last time before disappearing.

She wanted to call to him, bring him back, instruct her on what to do. He never came. Éponine sat up, or tried to, and searing pain erupted all over her body. She let out a pained moaned but continued to push forward, telling herself she has felt worse than this. She knew that was a lie though. She had never felt this type of pain in the years she lived at home. However she could not let that person down.

She crawled around the broken glass and the splintered wood and past the many bodies of boys. She was barely conscious her vision and hearing flickering in and out as she went. She found the a place where she could sneak out around a building. She followed the alley until finally she made it to the street in front of the barricade. Tears were now streaming steadily down her face, the pain overwhelming her. She saw the lines of the National Guard. They worked diligently, oblivious to the crying girl crawling away from the barricade.

The blood was beginning to weigh her clothes down slowing her crawl but Éponine forced herself onward. She managed to stand with the help of the wall and continued to use the walls of the buildings to balance as she traveled through the streets.

About a block away from the hospital she couldn't continue. She collapsed to the ground, loosing consciousness quickly. The last thought on her mind was Marius. She was sorry she couldn't survive so the could be together. However, just as she was about to lose consciousness a shadow passed over her. She felt herself being dragged from her underarms and placed onto a table. She tried to force her eyes back open but it was futile. The world faded to black and her fate was placed in someone else's hands.
