Éponine didn't know how to move on with her life. She had nothing. She was empty. Before the revolution she had her family, who now thinks she is dead, and she had Marius, who now hates her. She had no other friends, she had no where to go. She could try to restart her life as someone else, maybe find a job and a new place to live. Or she could just go on living as she is, alone and desperate. She's spent her whole life on her own already, what's a few more years.

She should at least be happy to be alive and alone, rather than dead. However, The only thing she was really bothered by was the fact that she couldn't remember how she had gotten away from the barricade. She died, she remembered that vividly, yet she awoke in some random woman's house. How is that even possible?

She turned the street corner and saw a familiar face, her father's. He and his gang were pulling off a scam, but Éponine already saw a policeman walking towards them. She watched as they all ran and scattered, one of the men running in her direction. She quickly turned her head to hide her face from view, she couldn't be recognized or else she would be dragged back into that life. She didn't mind the the crime aspect that much, she just couldn't live one more second with her father. He was a selfish and cruel man, something she didn't want to deal with again.

As soon as the coast was clear, she began to walk again. As she passed by a people, she picked a few coins out if their pockets. Suddenly as she was pick pocketing one man he grabbed her wrist. Éponine felt her heart drop and she tried desperately to free herself from his grasp. His grip was weak, but she stopped struggling when she heard his voice.

"Is this the best second impression I get from you Mademoiselle?" He said laughing slightly.

She looked up and studied his face, it was Enjolras. He released his grip on her and surprisingly she stayed put, she didn't know what made her stay.

His crystal blue eyes bore into her own and captivated her, she barely noticed the bustle of the traffic going on around them.

"Well, a girl has to eat doesn't she?" She said finally, internally smacking herself at the stupidness of her comeback.

He laughed nevertheless, "So first you punch me, then you try to pickpocket me, it's wonder I'm trying to help Marius find you" Enjolras said.

Éponine immediately felt her heart soar, Marius was looking for her. Then it stopped, the feeling of joy turned into a feeling of dread. She didn't want Marius to find her, not after what he did. "Well you can tell him that I don't want to see him, good day, Monsieur" she said turning away from Enjolras.

"Madamoiselle, please wait-" he said following her.

She whirled around on him, "One: do not call me that title my name is Éponine. Two: Marius broke my heart twice I do not /want/ to see him, in fact I can go my whole life without seeing him again!" She yelled before turning around again.

"Éponine", he said her name softly, like it was something to cherish and that made her pause, "listen to me. I know what Marius did was wrong, hell it was probably the worst decision he ever made, but he feels terrible about it. Please just give him a chance to explain himself" he pleaded following after her.

Éponine felt tears come to her eyes, "Well I just can't see him. I'm sorry, Enjolras, but I cant. I need you to forget you saw me" she said before she ran.

She ran away from him because she knew he is incapable of running after her. For some reason she suddenly felt a flame of hatred towards Marius run through her. If he still thinks she is the same lovesick girl she was before the revolution then he was sadly mistaken.
