Picture of Fury
_____________________The darkness of the night spread across like a blanket reaching beyond what the eye could see. A dense fog had rolled across the large expanses of pasture. An earthy smell rose from the ground filling the air with the sweet smell of the spring grass.
A beautiful black mare ambled along the fence line, stopping every few seconds to snatch a bite. Her fine face had once been known all around the world as one of a champion but her age had caught up with her. Her once bright eyes had dulled and her back had swayed from the birth of previous foals.
Bright lights suddenly burst through the fog frightening the mare. Her head jerked up and her ears perked. Her nostrils quivered as she took in the gleaming lights that illuminated her.
A rumbling noise came from the vehicle. The gravel churned beneath it's tires. It came to a sudden stop.
Two men jumped out of the horse carrier. Their voices we're muffled as they spoke.
"There she is!" One of the men pointed his flashlight at her "Midnight Fury"As soon as they began to edge towards her the mare began to get anxious. She tossed her head and let out a shrill cry. The two men looked around afraid that someone would notice them.
The sudden commotion was all too much for the mare as she suddenly bolted. The blinding darkness hid the fence from her view.Crash!
It was like being in slow motion as the world watched this black bullet break through. Wood pieces flew everywhere. Fury rolled onto the ground, pain sinking in deep. Miraculously she managed to pull herself up. Blood gushed out from a wound on her shoulder but the energy flowing through her veins made her only focus on running away. Before they knew it she was gone, disappeared into the middle of the night. The only thing left behind was a trail of blood and a broken fence.
It's my first story I hope you like it :)
