Song of the chapter Clarity acoustic by Foxes

Lewis and I stumble through my apartment door. I search for the couch as I need somewhere to sit, my head spinning. I hear Lewis's heavy steps following me as he sits next to me and gets comfortable. A moment of silence is shared between us and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't awkward. We look at each other and I can tell he's probably thinking the same thing.

"Can I ask you something?" I say putting my legs on the couch facing him.

"Shoot" he says.

"Why doesn't Hero like you?" I say. He looks at me and chuckles before sighing lightly and directing his eye gaze to the wall in front of us.

"Hero.... he's a tough one to get along with, I'm surprised how he is still in our group you now"" He says, his hand nearing my legs. I slightly, trying not to make it noticeable but move my legs closer to me.

"Why are you surprised?" I say looking at him.

"Well..." he trails off.

"What?" I say, spit it out already it out already God.

"Hero got Joel, his little brother I into some trouble with some higher up guys in London. Some bad guys" he explains.

"Who are these 'bad guys'?" I say begging for more detail.

"Look, we did a few drug runs for them on our bikes. The bad thing about it is, we can't exactly get out of it once you join, which we didn't know. Hero set us up and took more profit for himself and didn't show on the day. So our blood is on the deal not his" he says. My stomach drops, Hero completely betrayed his friends for a bit of extra cash.

"The worst part about it is that Joel's younger brother is only 17. Now he's stuck in with the worst bikey gang of London, like all of us." Lewis continues. I feel sick. How could Hero do that to innocent boys. I thought i knew him, to be genuine and kind but he's just a dirty crook. He's exactly like every guy I'm trying to avoid. What's stopping him from getting anyone else involved?

"He did something even worse" Lewis hesitates. I look at him signalling for him to continue.

"Something happened to the big guy's daughter, I mean the head of the operation guy" Oh god don't say it. I beg in my head for Lewis not to say something as disgusting as I'm thinking.

"She got knocked up, but he left her for no good and she ran off scared" He says.

I bury my face in my hands in shock and disbelief. How can you meet someone and think you know them? I should've known not to trust him from when he started showing signs of all these secrets.

"It's probably a shock to hear this about your Hero" Lewis says sarcastically. I pick up on his tone and don't enjoy it. I take a moment to think and process, sitting up straight and fixing my hair behind my ears.

"I think you should leave" I say before even thinking about it. Earning a shocked reaction from Lewis and even myself.

"Wait what? What did I do?" He says and sits up straight.

"This isn't right" I say avoiding eye contact.

"What your not happy to hear this shit about Hero, well you best believe it" he says crossing his arms.

"Please leave" I say one more time. He looks at me confused and then rolls his eyes and huffs as he walks towards the door. I feel his eyes on me as he walks out the door slamming it, but I'm too busy looking at the wall to let my body react.
