I felt infuriated as I stood in the doorway, my face red. I dropped my backpack on the floor loudly and stomped my foot like a five-year-old throwing a tantrum. The truth was, I was going to throw a tantrum in four seconds.

one...

two...

I felt the tears running down my cheeks.

three...

four...

"What do you mean Miami?!" I yelled at my mom. "What do you mean now?"

my mom looked surprisingly calm. She breathed in, then said, "I didn't want to tell you earlier, I know it was sort of wrong of me to wait to tell you till today..."

"Sort of?" I yelled at her, "We are leaving today and you think it was sort of wrong to wait?"

"I have my reasons." My mom went back to packing the utensils in the cardboard box. "I hired professional movers, your room is already cleaned out."

"What?!" I was so shocked, filled with anger. "Unbelievable."

"As soon as your father comes home from work, we are leaving for Florida." She replied calmly, still.

I checked my watch, it was three-forty. My dad came home from work at six. I ran out the door, got on my bike and rode away. Before I left forever, there were some things I needed to do first.

"Open the door!" I knocked so hard on the wood door I thought my knuckles would break. "It's Lacey!"

the brown wood opened and in front of me stood the most beautiful, gorgeous guy I've ever laid my shit eyes on.

"Cece?" He was puzzled. "What is going on?"

Cece. God, I loved when he called me that. I looked to the driveway, there wasn't a car parked. Just my bike on the ground, wheels still going round, round, and round.

I pushed him and went inside the house.

"Lacey, what the hell?" He walked up to me.

I grabbed his diamond-shaped face and pushed his lips against mine. Something I've been wanting for a few years. He didn't push me away, it was obvious he liked me. His fingers ran through my brown hair. I was praying he wouldn't somehow feel my dandruff. I don't think he did cause he kept running his fingers through.

I pulled away, and took off my shirt and threw it across the room. I pushed him toward me again but, this time he pulled away from me.

"Lacey, what the hell are you doing?" He asked. "Are you high? You don't ever act like this, you're shy and quiet-"

I rolled my eyes, "Look, Rain, I've liked you for so long and you're such a douche that you'll sleep with anyone, I want to sleep with you." I said with my hands on my hips, I was pretty annoyed.

Rain chuckled, "You're high." He went across the room and got my shirt for me and handed it to me. "I'm not sleeping with you when you're higher than shit."

"I'm not high, I promise." I said, I sat down on the couch next to me. "But, you're right, this isn't even something I would do."

"Then why are you trying to do it?" He asked me. "No offense, but I thought you were a lesbian."

"Ha-ha, very funny." I laughed 'cause everyone thought so too. I guess not having boobs suddenly made people think you were a lesbian. "I'm leaving, for like...ever."

His expression changed from confused to mega confused. "You're kidding."

"I'm not." I said. "I'm leaving today at six."

"Where?" He sat next to me.

"Far, far away from here." I looked into his blue eyes. "Nowhere near Dakota."

"Across the country? Across the world?" He asked, even more worried than confused.

"I'm going to Miami."

He kissed me out of nowhere.

"Cece, I'll FaceTime you later." He checked his phone, "it's five, you better go."

I stood up and headed out the door. Stopping in my tracks, I asked, "Anything to confess before I leave to the sunshine state?"

"I've liked you since the third grade, you're annoying, and you should get out more." He winked at me, "I liked the Lacey that showed up at my door today."

"In your dreams." I got on my bike. "I've liked you since the fourth, loser."

The next thing I knew, I was on the road. My dad was explaining to me and my little sister (who got told we were moving a month ago) about how promotions are something you can't pass up on and blah, blah, blah, blah.

The truth was, I was excited to live in Miami. You hear so many great things about it. Barbie lives there fictionally, and where there's lots of crime. it seemed interesting. South Dakota was not, no one really cared about it and no one took pride in living there. People took pride in living in Florida. The sunshine state.

Besides, I could be a whole new version of Lacey Grant. Not the introverted, shy, awkward one who lived in South Dakota. I could be a reinvented, daring Lacey Grant who lives in Miami.

Yeah...I'll be that Lacey.
